The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I heard someone mention a Pulse Rifle replica with muzzle flash and sound effects. Does anyone know anything about this? If combined with a working counter, it could be mighty bitchin' if it's true.

Hyperdyne sells the after market kits to install sound and light.

Here's his sound kit.

Here's his counter and muzzle flash combo kit.

I'm not aware of anyone else selling kits like these currently.

On the one hand, this seems pretty dang cool. On the other - after reading the info on the website - it also seems pretty dang complicated.

Anyway, I saw a list of some pulserifles for sale on M41a.com. Can you guys think of any others worth noting? Ideally, I want an airsoft Pulse Rifle with working counter. Muzzle flash and sound are cool add ons, but I don't need them right away.

You mean like this one I built ?
PR demo
Its a converted G&P kit but Ive installed the same stuff in one of Matts PR's for someone too.

Dont mind the startup noise, it was a request by the person I built it for. Normally I have Hicks or the Sarge sampled in.

Woah!!!!!!!!

Can that fire full-auto airsoft rounds? You should take a video under darker lighting to get a better idea of the muzzle flair. But I am really impressed! How much would that total package cost?

That one is no longer an airsoft. Unfortunately to fit all the switches in place on the fireselect etc the airsoft mechbox had to be canabalised. The owner didnt mind though as he doesnt play airsoft. You cant really fit the speaker, and everything else in there and keep it a functioning airsoft.

Ive just put a second one together for another friend using a G&P as a base, again not airsoft but it is a lasertag gun so its useable in outdoor combat games we play here anyway.

Its a bit excessive converting the G&P's which was why I was happy that its possible to convert one of Matsuo's kits too.

The electronics themselves cost around £70, adding on for the speaker, muzzle flash and switches etc as well as the built in rechargeable battery knocks the price up another £15 roughly. So around £85 for parts.

Internal layout is battery, circuit and speaker are installed in the spas cage and then the display module which is connected via 4 wires to the main circuit is either mounted on the shroud half (for the G&P) or onto a bracket on the back of the spas cage in the case of the Matsuo conversion. Then theres a few wires going to the switches in the gripframe. On the G&P I used the on/off switch thats already there but on Matts I wired one up to the safety, so that it was turned off when 'safe'.

Like ay project it does take a bit of effort working out how best to mount things but they sure are fun when complete :)

Neophyl, that is so cool.

Did you do any low light demo video's? I have to figure that looks great in dim lighting.

So you can customize the sound chip to not have the voices on there, and to not have all the chamber loading clicks and clacks? Though I do like the sound added for the GL when it gets racked.

How about a second LED in the GL barrel?

Yeah I can customise it to have different (or no noise) in the various 'sound slots'.

The video was just something we quickly did in my friends living room. I thought he was just going to focus on the PR, but no, he had to get me in shot too. I really displike myself on video lol

I can add a second led to the grenade barrel without changing anything as the board was designed for that anyway. Its just my normal lasertag gun board with some customised software and a customised display to fit in the G&P. The last one I did for James had the 2 leds for normal and grenade.

I dig the sounds for the most part. As much as I love ghostbusters, I don't think I'd ever want venkman's voice coming from my pulse rifle!! hahaha:lol:

That certainly made me laugh though, and it was impressive that you are able to do that too.

I am thinking connect up a small butane cylinder to the main piston of the airsoft gun via a one way valve, link that that to a small electronic lighter sparking mechanism mounted near the end of the barrel, and then add a one way valve just in front of the airsoft bb magazine feed. Then a squeeze the trigger and pulsed butane is forced down the barrel, and lite near the end, making a proper muzzle flash.

I will have to try with an old gas bb gun over the weekend, filled with lighter fuel and a lighter held near the end. Worst case scenario I loose my eyebrows (yet) again.

The concern I would have (after you excuse the HUGE safety concerns) is the heat would melt the plastic.

Hi all

Health and safety, what’s that??? Lol

Um! Quite disappointing. Standard non blowback DE filled with lighter fuel, and lighter held at the end of the barrel. A slight blue puff of flame and that was it. (No huge great big muzzle flash :( ) There is obviously not enough gas released to do anything worth looking at. I feel a home made trail effort is needed ;)

:) Don

ps, the only time life is remotely exciting, is first sex, (but then that can be a bit brief,) and when danger is involved. Whether it be risky sport related, high speed racing or just endangering your own life in the back garden. The only time you are really alive is when your heart rate has doubled and adrenaline is pumping through your body in huge quantities. The rest of the time you might think your alive, but for all intense and purpose your dead. Life is short enough without daft rules saying what you can and can’t do with your own life, providing you are not endangering others. From the moment you take your first breath, you are dying. Its up to you how you fill the gap in-between.
