The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I am in need of help when it comes to the "Bullet (BB) Counter" sensor on my Pulse Rifle. Lets make this clear, so I do mistakenly forget to mention some crutial detail. This is the G&P M41-A "ALIENS" Pulse Rifle, with an Airsoft: Tokyo Marui M1A1 Thompson as the internal gun. I specifically am in need of help with the "Bullet Counter Sensor" that counts the BB's as they are fired. Initially I was having issues with the sensor protruding too far into the barrel, which was causing problems as the weapon was fired. the sensors were pushed too far into the barrel that it was actually in the firing line of the BB's so the BB's were hitting the sensors causing the BB's to fly everywhich way but straight as the gun was fired.
I had tried a couple options to get the sensors the sit a bit further back so the BB's had a clear firing line, but these options failed. So I tried a risky move, I took my dremel and grinded down the sensors just a bit, enough to allow clear shooting. I knew this was risky, and I was taking a chance at ruining the sensors themselves, but thought since I wasnt actually cutting into the sensor but just taking the tip off, it would work.
Well.... it didnt work, and it did infact ruin the sensor itself. Well I have taken the sensor apart to see if I was able to repair it and from what I can tell the sensors themselves seem to be just 2 LED bulbs. If this is infact the case, then repairing it should be easy. But I am not familiar enough with electronics enough to make the call. So i was looking for help on this from anyone who can assist me here. I have 2 main questions when it comes to the sensor itself:
#1- are the sensors infact LED bulbs?
#2- I have looked the wiring over carefully, and there are 3 wires attached to the sensors, I get one wire is attached to each sensor (bulb) but what is with the 3rd wire? where does it connect to, does it connect to both? if so, how?
any assistance with this matter would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks for the help,
Tommy

I am not in any way able to solve this for you, but I can tell you one thing at least: Whenever I get my photo taken with my PR, red-eye reduction flashes activate my counter, so I'm more than sure that the sensors are photo-sensitive... so this is what you need to look for.

My guess is that one bulb is the sensor and one is the receiver. the negative leads would be common and would be the third wire. The other leads would be 1 to each positive of the sender and receiver leds if that makes sense. I also do not have this kit so this is all educated guessing.

I might have the LEDs from the G&P PR. I took them out of the housing so I could do the build without them. Not sure if they were damaged when I pulled them. I will need to find them.
