The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

My main site's down at the moment (domain registrar issues), so I've just mirrored my G&P/MiM PR build guide here:

http://www.medwaypvb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/pulse3.html

Menu navigation from Pulse3.html all the way to Pulse11.html work, but none of the rest of the site is there, so don't bother looking. :)

I've taken the lrage pics off those pages, just to save some space. 8)

Well, I'm about to toss the thing out the window. None of the screws which were shipped to me with the weapon fit the damn weapon.

I have a long-assed list of crap wrong with this thing and I'm generally just angry that I even bought it.

If I can't get it together (I may be using superglue and some ingenuity) by D*Con, it may bring it and opt to sell it. I don't know yet.

Oh, is it common for the mag which came with it to be like an inch TOO LONG for the shrouds? As of right now, the mag is so long I can't use it with the rifle and so I'll have to tape down the switch to activate the ammo counter.

This is ridiculous.

Yeah the standard M1A1 magazine is too long for a PR- you need the short "20 round" style magazine. Which is a 190 rd airsoft mid cap mag.

Sorry to hear your frustration- the airsoft PR is a bitch to build.

On the plus side (for me and the lucky Brit who gets to carry my Longshot) is other than the "silver" parts of my Spulse it is finished! Woot!

I was actually quite surprised by how little "loose" stuff I have to pack.

All my armor went it its big box. My gun and all its accessories will go in its own bigger box. The Ska Suit in its entirety will be traveling in its garment bag. I'll be wearing my boots up, that just leaves my BDU's and undershirts, plus civvies and various small items (repair kit, toiletries, etc.) to actually be packed in the duffel bag.

Finalization on the rifle should be complete in a day or so, and then I will be 100% ready to ROCK!

Well, the house move went fairly smoothly this weekend... now, which box did I pack my armour in? :?

So, rummaging through boxes tonight to put everything together. Still need to get my hair cut into the mohawk.

Oh Gods... Where to start?

- Couple of decals to add to the armour, one graffiti to finish.
- Vasquez S&W to seal and re-assemble.
- Class C pants to get back from the tailor, as the belt hoops were way too small for the garrison belt.
- For the secret costume, I still have some sealing and painting to do on some accessories, one hole to drill in a stock, possibly a mag to put together.
- And of course, I have to wait for my gotta-work-at-the-very-last-minute-tailor-friend to finish the costume itself, the delightful wench! :P

Then I have to pack everything in such a way that I can open the packages easily and show everything to Irish and US customs without having to unpack everything. THat should be a challenge to my scatterbrainedness when it comes to packing...

And all that, because timing is always dependant on Murphy, while trying to squeeze every little minute of enjoyment of my Californian friends' presence, because by the time I come back from D-Con there's a good chance they'll be gone, back to the Bay Area for good. After 4 years of being roomates and neighbours, and 6 years of friendship, it's tough.

(This, of course, being a cunningly sly message destined to encourage people to help me drown my sorrows while in Atlanta. Yeah, I'm that sneaky. )

Sooooooo not ready!

I think I might have that one beat. I went to pick up my vest parts yesterday, only to find they weren't finished. For reference, I told the rep I needed this order finished by the beginning of this week when I turned it in three weeks ago. The production manager was waiting on information from me which I gave the rep last Thursday... who apparently forgot to forward it along. In other words, my parts have been sitting idle in the shop for about a week. :?

So, production manager and I have a little pow-wow and I make sure he has alllll the information he could possibly need, right from the horse's mouth, and he promises to have the parts ready for me today if at all possible. Fingers crossed, lol.

The pocket amp WORKS, but the sound effect distorts terribly at the volume levels I want. I'm not sure if it's the amp itself, or the speaker I'm using, so I'm going to pick up a new speaker at Skycraft today and give it a go. If that doesn't work, I'm shelving it for this year. All the other FX work perfectly, so no biggie.

The Head-Mounted Sight is one hacksaw cut, two screws, and a bolt (and a curly-cord if I find one at Skycraft!) away from being completely finished. THAT makes me happy. :3

Juliet herself is likewise almost back to 100%. I got the trigger box mounted yesterday with the battery case for the FX board inside it. Once I have the speaker sorted - one way or the other - I'll be able to seal up the ammo drum and get the drum cover installed again, and that'll be that.

All in all, it's not looking too bad. I just need to get my hands on those vest parts.

Got my haircut today.

Now I'm ready. :)

Not exactly a high and tight cut... More like "I'm an Air Force bum".

(No offense to any real AF boys  8) )

I'm about 2/3rds packed. I'll finish the remainder tomorrow morning!

Can't remember where I put my Hypersleep impression though. Guess it stays behind. :?

Just finished adjusting, duct-taping, then searing all the straps on my armor.

I also masking-taped my Longshot and hit the upper shroud with OD green. I may just use this this year and leave the PR... though I may try tonight to work with the limited tools here in the apartment to assemble it.

Essentially, I'm done... 8)

Shipped 7 HUGE boxes to Atlanta already. Just did my test pack on the suitcase and it's at 49 pounds. Of course the limit is 50, and I still have some more last minute things I have to throw in there, so I'm screwed.

A young(er) Dom Beaudoin walks into a local barber shop...

The sign on the wall says:

HAIRCUT--- $15

SHAVE------ $8

The barber asks Dom what he would like done today...

Dom points at the top of his head and says... "Shave it!"

And the rest is history. 8)

I've tasked my wife to sew the badges on my new MAA 3Pat BDU's (in my house, she's a Private and I'm a Corporal  ), must mount the back clips on my Spat armour and after fixing and priming my FNG welder, gotta paint it BROWN BESS (my favorite color). Nothing like a deadline to get your gear ready!

Well, everyone, for your consideration is my modded Longshot. It isn't modded by much, mind you, but I had fun painting weathering, and adding to it.

And, of course, being a stickler for details, I'm going "what could this weapon be in the USCM arsenal?"... aside from the Longshot sniper rifles, etc.

My take on it is simple a beast of an automatic weapon which fires the M40 grenade.

Imagine that suppressive fire!

Anyways, the pic isn't great but I'm anxious to get it posted so it'll do for now...

I can't pack anything until it's ready.

I'm panicking now!
