The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Have we discussed this one yet.

http://www.doomsdayiscoming.com/

I swear, they took all the following films, threw them in a blender and came up with this.

Aliens
Mad Max
The Road Warrior
Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
No Escape
Tomb Raider
Gladiator
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Escape from NY
Escape from LA
Children of Men
Reign of Fire

The list goes on and on...

Saw the trailer last night when going to see Diary of the Dead.

I just turned to the Pixie afterwards and said "So, Mad Max mixed with Escape from New York".

Could be a great cheesy popcorn flick, but I'll be cautious until the reviews come in.

Nice car.

But yeah- quite the milkshake of better films.

Actually the whole thing closely resembles the plot of "Cyborg"- one of Van Damme's best films.

"Cyborg" is set in a post-apocalyptic World, where a plague is wiping out the remainder of Mankind. A female cyborg scientist must travel from NYC to Atlanta (no joke) with vital information about a cure. She hires a mercenary (Van Damme) to protect her from the gang of Road Warrior-like "Pirates" along the way.

You can watch it if you like- but it's crap.

Come on, "Time Cop" was better than Cyborg.

Having said that, I DID watch it back in the 80s/early 90s when it hit video. :)

Kind of torn on Doomsday though. I guess it will tide me over untill "Mad Max 4: Fury Road" comes out. :)

I went to go see it last weekend. If you're looking for a fairly mindless action flick, it's pretty good, but don't expect anything with an indepth plot that leaves you thinking.

P.S. It's not a zombie flick

It was decent.

If you have seen it, you know it goes from 28 Days Later (Let's contain the plague) to Escape From New York (savages in contained zone) to Lord of the Rings (I'll you guess when) to Mad Max (Let's send a horde of car driving freaks after them).

I saw the flick and believe it or not, I enjoyed it. In interviews, the director specifically states that this is a homage film to all the classics that was listed. There are some moments that are just retarded and the storyline is essentially gone and forgotten about 20 minutes into the film. The thing is is that you don't go into a film like this expecting anything but a mindless action flick.

It wasn't the greatest film but it was far from the worst i've ever seen.

I have to add "Platoon and Excalibur" to all the above films.
Yes, it is a "Greatest Hits" album, but one of my new favorites.
What's not to like?

I saw it with my old man and some friends a week or so ago and I gotta tell you guys... we loved it. I laughed SO HARD.

This is a great flick to go see and lampoon, in the vein of Anaconda. And yes, the scene where they take the APCs into the quarantined zone is STRAIGHT out of Aliens... go watch it and you'll see what I mean.

I saw it just the other day.
It was fun.
I would say, watch the trailer. The trailer is exactly what you get in the movie. No more, no less.
The only thing people haven't mentioned here and this was something I wasn't to keen on, was the can can dancing scene.
