The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ok here is the rub: I hate to travel. Well I hate to travel because my company pays for me to travel all around the world. But I want to go to a con in 2008. March is out due to the fact that my L5/1 disk went out on me and i will be in bed torturing everybody from my laptop. o what is the good drop zones for 2008

Read this first:

http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?t=2796

Then we can tell you which would be best.

Although DCon would most probably get the vote.

If I could only attend one convention a year for the rest of my life...

It would be Dragon Con!

It is the only US convention I go to (and have ever been to for that matter).

San Diego Comic Con would probably be number two- however the difference usually is described as: SDCC is a business venture while D-Con is a non stop party. 8)

I have always said to people who have never attended D-Con-

You will love it! Even if it sucks and is the worst D-Con in history, you're still gonna love it! It's like stepping into another world!

DragonCon sounds interesting. Maybe I'll go there to enjoy the peace and quiet of spending time with some other Aliens fans in a low-key, subtle environment.

Is it the kind of convention that allows you to bring a camera?

Oh yes! They love to have costumers line up in a public place and take pictures of them!

However, it is a very dry con. No alcohol, no drugs. I think it's run by Mormons.

Then it's perfect for me! I'll have to forgo my normal half a glass of wine before I read the bible for an hour and then go to bed, but it's ok. It will leave me plenty of free time to sit in my hotel room and watch TV.

Oh and they also forgo all temptations by disallowing any scantily clad females or minors. In fact, I believe all women have to wear Burkas.

My friend Roger is an avid church goer, bible reader and a school teacher. Awesome guy.
He came to D*Con last year and I don't think he's stopped talking about it to be honest.

So sorry Spat.....that doesn't wash with me :P

But I'd recommend Dragon Con.
Biggest social convention in the US, possibly the world.

Don't get us wrong, just because WE go crazy and party our brains out, it's a big enough con that there's something for everyone. If you want a quiet time, you can have it, and if you want to party like it's 1999, you can do that as well.

It's not like we walk the halls pouring alcohol down random people's throats, or spend our nights cross dressing, or grabbing stranger's boobs, or just licking tattoo's onto girls chests for hours at a time. We're not those kinds of people.

Oh wait... yes we are!

God, I miss DragonCon!

Panels attended - 0
Q&A's attended - 0
Autographs - 1 (Cynthia Scott)
Fun had - off the scale

Anyone can have a good time there, truly.

This year's drop will include heckling Spat!

And hanging out with the best dang costuming group there!

The 501st! Oh wait not... what's the polar opposite? Oh right us...

There is no other choice- DragonCon all the way! My first DCon was a life-changing experience!!   Seriously, it is one fantastic time. You have read that it is a surrealistic experience...it truly is!

The Colonial Marines at DragonCon- it is an experience that needs not just a few words to describe it, use all the adjectives you can find, and they won't be enough to adequately describe the experience of DragonCon.

Seriously, my first DCon was overwhelming...and it was awesome!

Sat. Morning / Afternoon is Colonial Marine Day-
Parade- Colony Sweep- Priceless!

OK so Dcon it is. My industrial grade liver will be intact but I think I might pass on the cross dressing! How is the Marriott for a hotel choice?

Being a Marriott Platinum member has its advantages. So the Marriott Marquis is close to the action?
