The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

That is a fantastic story! I would have cried I think seeing them again after so long!! lol

This is another long shot - have you tried to see if C & G Costumers still exists? There is a phone number on the patch in your image - as well as an item number. Maybe they know a bit more about it's history??

Equally, the cast will have had numerous uniforms each, meaning a positive ID is highly unlikely.

Worst still, the pants and shirt may not even be a matched set!

I am going frame by frame to hopefully id your shirt. The problem is I lack good quality photos of yours. Could you please take a picture of each sleeve flattened out with the patch at the top center.

I think you have a Dietrich but I am not 100%

If the guy fits the uniform and he's a 6'2" male, this is not Dietrich's outfit...

You're assuming that the wardrobe was tailored to each cast member. I am more inclined to believe a bunch of generic sizes were made and the cast was just told to go put one on.

Also each cast members tunic was hid under their armor, and in Dietrich case she is the only cast member whose sleeves are just pushed up. They are neither rolled, nor cut off. I am inclined to believe this is because the shirt she was wearing was to big for her in the first place.

So I am assuming nothing in the screen id check....

Here is how I have broken it down and why:

100% Certain they don't belong to:

Ferro (Flightsuit)
Spunkmeyer (Flightsuit)
Vasquez (No Tunic)
Drake (No Tunic)
Hicks/Michael Biehn (Sleeves Cut off)

75% Certain they don't belong to:

Apone (Camo Design, based upon platoon meeting,
doesn't match)

Frost (Camo Design doesn't match)

Maybes: But not likely....

Wierzbowski (Tightly rolled sleeves)
Based upon the comment that those had to be cut..

Hudson (Rolled Sleeves)

Leaves:

Dietrich
Crowe

James Remar: I know he was in the film for a heartbeat but am not sure where. Can somebody post a screenshot of him?

Did I miss anybody???

Hey Cooter,

I can agree with you on the following:

Ferro (Flightsuit)
Spunkmeyer (Flightsuit)
Vasquez (No Tunic)
Drake (No Tunic)
Hicks/Michael Biehn (Sleeves Cut off)
Hudson
Wierzbowski

However, the rest *cannot* be confirmed:

Apone
Frost
Dietrich
Crowe
James Remar
All the stunt performers

Each actor will have had multiples of each uniform, and some may have mixed and matched shirts and pants depending on necessity. Further, this uniform could have simply been used for rehearsals, or in some of the unrecoverable deleted scenes. None of those people above can be ruled out as possibilities except Apone, and even then, that assumes a matching set - the shirt could have been worn by one person and the trousers someone else!

All we know is it was used - that's it. And that makes it as cool as it needs to be. :)

There were several lots of these outfits at the Bonhams auction without name tags. They were sold 5-10 pieces per lot for around 20 quid.

Some of them have shown up 'adjusted'.

Again, thanks for the info folks, this is real interesting.
Tiny bit of new info for you: came across something i'd not noticed before - on the label inside the trousers, there's written in very faint biro "waist 31" and "inside leg 33" ".
So there you go with whoever's dimensions.

Something i still can't figure out is how did Film Review get the costumes for the competition?
Obviously they orginally came from the Bonhams auction, but was it a case of an employee going along with a load of petty cash and bidding for stuff?
Thinking not if my suit came from a Lot that was just labelled as military costumes as has been revealed earlier in this thread.
Makes more sense that they got the competition prizes off of someone who'd been there and won a bunch of stuff.

In trying to identify it, does it help that it came with a lot of what looks like cement dust on it? Guess it points to have being worn at Acton (hopes it not asbestos dust then...) rather than one of the Colony Rooms only.

Also on the identifying theme, here's the sleeves and patches as requested:

Sorry for the quality of the pics - only got a crappy camera at the mo'.

According to Gale Ann Hurd, Acton had to undergo asbestos mitigation before shooting began. And when they were done, the air quality was better than when Acton was open as a power station.

Personally unless it might fall apart- I'd get the BDUs cleaned.

Leave us not forget that in a movie setup anything
can happen. This could have been used by some of the
actors not in BDU's and then they could have changed
their mind about what to wear.... Could also have been
used in one scene and not others...

Fantastic story and lovely costume.

It's always great to hear about something else surviving. I once heard a very sad tale of a complete Crowe costume (head to toe complete!) being taken to the 'tip' (garbage disposal site) and destroyed. The owner didn't know what they had. Luckily the friends of the individual still had a complete Hudson costume, but that's another story.....

Sadly there is almost no chance of identifying which actor wore the costume. I've seen a number of original sets and aside from the name tape on the front of the jacket they usually have either the actor or character name written on the costumers label inside the jacket, or on the rear band of the inside of the trousers.

As this has been bumped, thought i'd ask again:
Does anyone know which issue of Film Review carried the competition that i won the outfit from?
Thought it'd be nice to have a copy to go with the congrats letter i got from the magazine.

While I don't have any more information for you, thanks for bumping this awesome story! I wish every prop or costume from the film had ended up in the hands of a fan such as yourself, instead of in a scrapheap or being cut up for another film (which I believe happened to one of the sentry guns; what a waste).
You're one lucky guy!

I'm pretty sure you can count Wierzbowski out. Trevor Steedman was way too big – even then, in his slimmer days – for that to fit.
Great story mate!

Hey guys! I am new here and have spent the last week or so doing some research on this particular USCM outfit in the thread and was looking for some more assistance.

I believe I have ID'ed the trousers to the photos of the wardrobe assistant modeling Frost's gear in the behind the scenes photos (the pants were not worn by Frost, just the wardrobe guy). The camo pattern also seems to match the continuity Polaroid of Wierzbowski?

The top doesn't match the wardrobe pics or any of the actors tops that I can see. As the author of this thread states, the BDU top appears to be worn but lacks any insignia on the chest and he found the remnants of a cigarette pack in the pocket. Sooo, I am thinking maybe stunt as name tapes wouldn't be seen under the armor? I was wondering if there were any behind the scenes photos out there of the stunt crew wearing the fatigues? Like the images of Hurd firing the pistol in the air shaft?

Thanks!

Here is a photo of Paul Weston, Stunt Coordinator.

We know from the Bonham's auction there were at least 35 sets of BDUs' made.
