The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Been a while since I have been on here. Was wondering since this is the 40th anniversary of alien if anybody was going to do a challenge coin?

For a halloween gimmick I took some bubblegum coins and printed and applied a cobra logo to them. our circular logo could do the same...

Would be cool.

Dom offered all the previous coins.

I just did the artwork.

Even some of the original coins could be updated (like the last one) and re-released.

To elaborate more, I started thinking about this a few months ago and the only reason I didn't start making a design to propose was I figured it should relate to things/events only in Alien and I really couldn't think of 2 sides.

I thought maybe one side could be the Narcissus shuttle. Simple enough shape and recognizable.

Lets start throwing ideas out there

The curled up alien with tail going forward between its legs and then arching back and around would lend itself well to a coin design.

How about boots with dog tags around and a helmet on top for one side? Or we could go all out and put a pulse rifle coming out of the boots and the helmet on top of it. Kind of a memorial for those lost like Trevor, Bill, and Al. It could also be for the AL members lost.

Thanks!

Greg

I think a memorial coin would be fantastic for all actors (and one I would definitely love to add to my collection), but it should be a separate thing. I think the original poster was more referring to an Alien 40th Anniversary coin.

The Alien idea is also great, bigbisont!

Maybe an image of Kane in suit peering into the opened egg could work as well? Egg in the foreground and Kane's shoulders and helmet just above it in the background.

I like the memorial version and the narcissus. Wouldn't mind if somebody did another bug stomper version. That's one I lost. I wanted it put in with FNG"s ashes and the prick at the funeral home stole it. Found that out when his wife passed away and they went to mix their ashes. Surprise; no challenge coin. No bronze star either and FNG earned that.

How about a soldiers tombstone with the boots, pulse rifle, and helmet? That would be a good memorial to all the actors and board members that have passed.

I love to see more coins. :delta:
The Alien 40th Anniversary coin, the other ideas and some sort of template how a local group coin could look like?
I had a few ideas on the first GERCM coin, but yet no time to find someone who could produce them.

Dammit I am good on visualization just not putting it on paper.

I thought of one side having the narcissus with 40th anniversary USCSS Nostromo on the rim and on the obverse have the soldiers tombstone with United States colonial marines-remember all who have fallen

Just ideas. There was someone on this board who did a real nice painting of a USCM soldiers tombstone when FNG died, but I don't remember who it was.

These are just super quick mock ups, anything can be suggested/changed or done differently
Edge is blank but for different style suggestions (rope, oblique, etc.)

I like that one. Can you do the egg base like the original movie poster?

Can you think of any USCM designs? Just ideas

I started this idea last summer. The idea was tossed around that the APC and dropship scene would look cool in a previous coin thread so I started envisioning it for an Aliens 35th Anniversary design. I haven't finished it yet, I just got the positionings and proportions of both how I liked. Was going to add the rock formations of LV-426 along the sides.

Again, all feedback is welcomed. I won't be offended if anyone has a better design.

I feel like we should remember all the actors from each film who have passed, as well as all board members whether they were into USCM stuff or not. It would seem weird to remember (for example) John Hurt and Harry Dean Stanton, HR Giger and Bolaji Bedejo on a USCM inspired design. If there was an all encompassing memorial design, that would be cool.

I like your 35th and 40th coin design Melissa.
With so much options to choose from coming to a few candidates should be easy.
Would be great if we also create a template how a local group coin (showing the ship and the delta for the group for example) could look like.

Are we trying to incorporate alien and aliens designs into one coin or two coins? Because if two coins I thought the narcissus/Ripley message on one side and the nostromo patch label on the obverse. The memorial one with the drop ship /APC on one side and the USCM symbol with a soldiers tombstone on the others. Just brainstorming.....

Does anyone remember who did the painting of the atmosphere processor with a USCM soldiers tombstone when FNG passed away? That would be a good design.

I'm not a fan of the move poster egg.

I suggest:

Side with enamel inlay:
A.Nostromo hat patch graphic
B.Weylan Yutani Wings
C.Triangular Flag patches

Anniversary side:
A.Nostromo
B.Narcissus
C.Environment Suite helmet
(this side could have the names of the lost nostromo crew)

Agreed on the Alien egg poster the more I look at it :)

I don't have a decent vector of the Nostromo patch yet without taking the time to design it myself. Here's a rough outline of the patch just to get an idea of it on a coin. I've added the Weylan Yutani wings to fill in the void beneath it.

I also figured that the names could go along the outside edge kind of like so...

The Narcissus side hasn't been altered much aside from noting the anniversary.

If I can come up with a good image of the Nostromo or the suits I'll post those too.

Note: I noticed I'm currently the only one making mock ups but feel free to join in. I just have a lot of free time at the moment

Bumping this as I still have interest in getting this done. Technically we have until June 12th for the true 40th Anniversary.

Perhaps if we are settled on the Narcissus as one side for a 40th Anniversary, we can take more suggestions for the other side. Maybe the expedition crew in suits? (Kane, Dallas and Lambert), the derelict? These images can be recreated using the various readily available figures.

I found a place here in Canada that is interesting. They make coins, medals, ribbons, pins and badges.

Their minimum for coins and pins is 50 pieces. Thoughts are welcomed!
