The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

We've been invited back to this event. The Exewing guys may be doing the UNIT/UKCM shooting range lark again.

Furthermore, there is a possibility of us being able to do a display table, including replica weapons; the organisers are specifically OK with airsoft rifles etc being on display. I just need to confirm the space.

Who fancies it?

It's pretty local, so can't really say no. ;)

I'll check with Sarah if people want to crash at ours again. Maybe we can get Darren to sing to us all again in Rock Band....

Would love to do this one and I need to be in Chepstow, Monmouthshire the following day for an event that I'm running myself so would be a bit of a Sweet and Sour thing as I'd have to be in Newport on Saturday night to meet up with my co-organiser etc so would have to miss the Saturday Night Shenanigans! :? The plus side of this being if anyone wants to make a weekend of it and cross the bridge for a little more uniformed mayhem on Sunday (hangovers permitting this is the UKCM after all) I'm happy to offer any UKCM members free admission to the Welsh Action Figure Show. :-)

So had best put myself down as a maybe for this one!

I've spoken to Ady one of the organisers and he says he has cleared the display/carrying of replica and airsoft weaponry with the local Police.

Exewing bunch are intending to set up the Nerf firing range in a marquee outside, hopefully we can have another marquee alongside to do the weapon/Alien display as was intended to happen at Peco?

Cheers,

Andy

So, having talked to Andy, it looks like we may have some work to do at this event!

If you were at the NSC events, you'll be familiar with the NERF shooting range. If you did the Doctor Who Day then you'll know about the UNIT bootcamp - they're essentially the same thing but with a Aliens or DW flavour. In association with Exewing, we're looking to run the UNIT bootcamp. It will be nominally a UNIT bootcamp - with the DW related targets and posters - bring UNIT getup if you have it. However, we'll be mixing it up with Aliens so Marine gear, BDUs and the occasional Xenomorph will be fine. A suggested donation of 50p for the event's charities will be asked from punters for the NERF range.

We should have two large gazebo/tents (hopefully covered with camo netting) outside on the grass bank if the weather is good. One will hold the shooting range and the other can be for a weapons and Aliens prop display. The organisers have OK'd the display of RIF's, and the local police have been informed. I will bring the UKCM banners and standees. The remaining question is how many tables we'll be able to blag...

So, I'm looking for both Aliens props and airsoft guns to display. There'll be a requirement for the table to be watched, and also for people to run the shooting range. I'll be in/out of costume as required to help out. And if we don't have the people then we'll need to shut it down. But I'm confident we won't need to do that.

What do we think? Doable? Of course, if the weather is poor we might have to move inside or change plans ...
