The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi Martin,

Great pics, thank you for sharing, quality (apart from the dodgy geezy in a flight suit!) over quantity!

Hats off to you and Steve as well, you two have my total admiration, making props 'live' in front of the public, not something I could do.

...and don't forget:

SOLIDARITY BROTHER!

I just got this from Colette Hiller. Well done everybody, it was a great event with everyone pulling together (no jokes, Munkey ;-))
None of this was possible without the NSC and really that means one person – Malika. Without her these events simply wouldn't happen.

Here's Colettes email thanks to us:

My Dear Andrew and the UKCM,

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for arranging a lovely weekend /25th Aliens celebration.
I am aware that an enormous effort on your part made this all tick along so well. The hotel was lovely and it was a very happy time – well organised and you made us all feel so welcome. I had a terrific time and met some really interesting people – there were lots of physics folk and engineers. I had some good conversations with people of all ages and backgrounds -

I was amazed by everybody’s generosity during the auction – I was very inspired. I thought Mallika (sp?) was a most marvellous host and quite a gifted speaker in her own right – both relaxed and polished . She should be in the movies if not on a comedy circuit!
Also – please pass on my congratulations to the wonderful comedien... I’ve adapted a few of his jokes into my own meagre repertoire!

Finally, please can you apologise to the other organisers that I wasn’t there on Sunday – having had to dash out for Sky News.
If I can help you out in the future in any way, do let me know – For example – perhaps we might arrange a drama workshop for non actors (with money going to charity) or something else which catches your fancy.
Please can you circulate this among your fellow organisers.

Thanks again for everything.
Colette

Corporal Ferro!

On top of that kudos, we raised £1985 for charity, just under two grand. All the proceeds have been donated to Medi Cinema.

Everyone that took part in this event was great and you should all be very proud of yourselves.

Thanks to event snapper Chris Meany for the pic of Colette, seen here with her Gold Award.

Hope I'm not being rude by adding another post but found this great BBC article about Haunted House experiences and thought it was extremely interesting and somewhat relevant.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15519653

Comments are worth checking out too particularly #25 #26 and #67 ;)

p.s. I went though the Alton Towers Terror of the Towers scare maze last week... well to be honest I was scared and tense throughout and it put the A.E. into a whole new perspective and left me wishing we had a lot more space to play with in the Challenger building...
