I combed thru here looking for a review of the G&P kit, and couldn't find one...anyone have a link?

eHobby Asia is listing these in stock, and I just picked up a CYMA TSMG. I want to build a static gun, the CYMA + G&P seems like a good route to go.

The CYMA + the G&P kit will work with a little fitting/fudging of the kit. At least in my experience, it didn't go together as seamlessly as I had hoped. Mainly the grip and the brace just behind it seemed to fit funny. Other than that, it worked pretty well.

If you were only going for a static gun, I would've reccommended getting a broken one from Kapowwee. It'll have all the physical parts you need to build the gun but it just won't be a functional airsoft rifle. I paid 40 bucks for mine (and managed to get it working with a few parts replaced and some work of my own), so if you can back out of your TSMG purchase, you might wanna go with a broken one instead.

If you have questions about the kit, I'm sure they'd be answered here in a heartbeat.

Having just built one,

Its quite an easy kit to put together, but as bazookafied said, it does need a bit of fettling - i had trouble with the stock sliders, the butt plate to stock assembly, and some of the body pin holes were too tight.

A dremel and sharp hobby knife were godsends!

Review wise, what would you be interested in? Looks, ease of assembly etc?

PVB's assembly guide is pretty much a review at the same time and spot on, IMO.

See my guide in my sig, but be aware that I messed up using some bolts in the wrong place, so take extra care in using the round headed hex bolts for all outer surfaces, maybe sorting/counting out the ones you need for each stage before assembly.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. I was just trying to figure out if the kit was worth the cost, or if I should build my gun from Matsuo and other compnents. I think I'll start with the G&P kit and upgrade as neccessary.

I paid $45 for my CYMA, was that a good price?

It can be a bit difficult to replace bits of the G&P kit with more accurate/suitable bits, but the G&P is a good basis for a starter PR.

However, if you've got the funds and opportunity, I'd go for Matsuo parts instead.

Just watch out for the pull out stock adjustment. No matter how you follow the G&P instructions, it's not going to ratchet for you. You have to make a similar modification as below to get that spring loaded stud to go in the index hole.



The best mod's that were made for the G&P pretty much all were achieved by Matt Noble. Matt had used his access to a 3D printer and printed parts e.g. a cut away mag base to allow for winding of the magazine for BB's, a mag holder to replace the stock one that also had the false release taps built-in, screen accurate sling, and a rounded back end for converting the G&P rectangular shape near the stock to a proper rounded shape ala. the screen used pulse rifle. Of course, you can not attach a sling to a G&P PR unless you had sling mounts. Best way to do that would be to get a metal barrel vent and a metal pull out stock with the sling loops soldered in already.

I fit a sling to my G&P PR by clipping it through holes in the metal vent and stock just fine.

The stock ratchet also worked for a couple of weeks after putting it together, then stopped working.

Thanks, Steve but we're talking semi or full accuracy since if you're gonna spend the money to get the proper 8 stripe OD sling with the correct hardware your attachment points better to be: 1. Hard as in hard points like where bombs hang off of planes, 2. Accurate if possible -- would be my take on that.

I don't have a Noble sling though, just one off an old gas mask bag, so that'll do for me.
