The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello Aliens Legacy members and staff!

New user here. Stumbled accross the site while googling for infor about pulse rifles. I didn't see an introductions thread so I thought I'd start one.

I'm a 29 year old Alien fanatic from Maryland, USA, and I'm stoked about the idea that there's a community of like-minded Alien nuts here! I've been a fan of the series ever since I was a kid saw the second film on VHS as soon as it hit the rental shelves and my older brother's friend played it for us at a birthday party. To this day Giger's alien is the only movie monster that genuinely scared the livin' HECK out of me (had nightmares about those things for years!), and now I have all the movies on DVD and watch them regularly. My favorites are still the first two films. I estimate I've seen Aliens(1986) at least 40 times, and Alien(1979) maybe 10 times or so.

I'm also a firearms enthusiast (yeah, I know, not an easy hobby to maintain in the Peoples Republic of Marylandistan) and I have this crazy idea in my head that I'd like to modify a real semi-auto Thompson rifle chambered in .45ACP to look like an M41A pulse rifle. It would be a VERY expensive project (the Tommy gun alone runs about $1000 new) and with possible gun control legislation on the horizon it may become impossible, especially if I chose to use a real SPAS-12 shotgun in the build, as those weapons may be the target of some new anti-gun legislation on the horizon by politicians that get all of thier info about guns from the movies  If the project ever gets off the ground I'll be sure to post pictures throughout the build.

In the meantime I'm thinking about doing a test run on an airsoft Thompson + SPAS-12 if I can find all the componants needed. Not sure yet what I plan to do. Still in the research phase for all of these crazy project ideas I've got.

Anyways, not to ramble on and on.. but I look forward to getting to know everyone, and I'll see you on the boards! Everyone have a great day! -Artifical Person ("You didn't say anything about an android being onboard, why not?")

Thanks. For the times it is fitting.

But then I guess I am now considered a radical by Homeland security.
Being a vet, NRA life members and holder of a conceal carry permit. LOL

Just worked a deal for a VP70 so am getting excited. We do have a few who are interested in the firearms here. :D

Funny, funny, Dom!

I'm just trying to figure out if this "Artificial Person" is someone we already know ... or somehow got here on his own!

Welcome AP. :)

Just to clarify matters, the grenade launcher (GL) was a cut down Remington 870 shotgun inside a bare(empty) Spas 12 cage, not an actual complete Spas 12 shotty.

We've recently had another member make that 'mistake', so thought I'd let you know before buying the complete Spas 12.

Chryse made the banner for me, since I'm kinda attached to the group up here that does USCM. I think we have a total of about 12-14 people that do Aliens related costuming here in MD. Our next drop is in July, for Shoreleave. We'd love to see another face.

Maryland is second only to the UK in "Highest concentration of AL members" in a given area

I'd like to point out, in a CIA world factbook stylee, that the UK is 9 times the area of Maryland ...

It's well worth a read. Some bits are hilarious from an outsider's prospective ...

Welcome AP! You'll find no better misfits than the boys and girls on this site! :D

They're a very welcoming bunch, and you definately won't find a better resource for anything Aliens than these guys! I've got a G&P M41A rifle now - but only through the tutorials and help from the guys here.

So I pass the welcome on to you!! Enjoy! :D
