The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Beautiful, in a nauseating kind of way.

Wow those are quite possibly some of the best home brew props I have ever seen. How do they articulate?
Or are they just static? Can't wait to see the film.....

Well the Blair monster has holes in the back so you can stick your hand in there and make it move. But I think we will use wire to help it out (the paint makes it stiff). The last creature we will use camera tricks. I had plans to make it's mouth move but I think we will get the same scare factory without that. At this point I just want the film done!

Fraking awesome man. Just curious but what do your neighbors think
When you pull those out of the garage to take pictures or whatnot?

I can't say enough how insanely amazing this is!

Best of success when filming!

Yeah I'd like to know if you get any weird looks from neighbours as well.

Yea I built the big ones with the garage open as the paint fumes will just kill ya... LOL I use that bright light to make sure you don't miss some patch so the whole neighborhood got a nice long look. Cars slowing door, people looking out their windows, kids riding by on their bikes over and over. A few kids rode by to ask what they are for, I just said they are for a movie. :)

And after that (the video), I'm sure they'd make great yard decorations for Halloween  . Just prop 'em up, maybe add some spooky lighting... and BOO  !!! The scariest yard on the block  8) . Another up-side: if you don't want kids to come Trick-or-Treating, these should scare them off   .

Hey guys I do have a short clip online. I entered it into a contest. Didn't win but they seemed to like it a lot.

This is only a 3 minute clip and I had to change the music as no licensed music was allowed. There will be different cuts and more special effects even in these shots for the real movie.

Now that's entertainment!

I love the way you got the family involved. That last shot of you and the kids was a cracker!
A lot of effort, there. Well done mate!

Great stuff!

That clip was freaking awesome! :D

The Thing-spider jumping onto the table actually made me jerk in my seat! Haven't felt something like that since the "Love at first sight" scene in "Aliens"! :D

Can't wait for the final product!

So does that mean you have a license to use "The Thing" movie idea, and name?

I guess not, they allowed it. They just didn't want the music. I'm surprised they didn't say anything about the sound effects. The theme of the contest was a homage to a famous film.

The real film will shamelessly use all the music and sound effects I can gleem off the movie. I have the entire score so that will help. It would be nice if I could have all the final scenes on video by next weekend so I can spend the entire weekend editing and adding polish, but I think worst case, 2 weeks and I should be done.
