The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

this is making me very angry  , so I'm asking for help.

What I am trying to find is an audio file (preferably a .wav format, but anything will work) of the sound made by the aliens in Pitch Black, that kind of sonar-y sound. Can anybody help me, please?

Any help would be appreciated, I've searched Google so many times and found nothing  .

I hope you mean frustrated instead of angry Mav.

What you want to do might be possible if you have access to a DVD player that has separate RCA ('phono') audio outputs for each of the Dolby 5.1 channels rather than an optical audio output and a pair of RCA connectors for the left and right stereo mixdown channels.

Depending on how the sound is mixed for 5.1 you might be able to find a channel (usually the centre one) that has a 'clean' alien sound effect on it.

Hope that helps,

Harry

LOL!

I don't really have time to explain it at the moment but I grabbed one sound for you.

How's this (attached)?

If your computer can play DVDs and you have a sound capturing program like Audacity, you can play the movie on your comp, and then use Audacity to capture whatever sound you like and save it as an MP3 or .wav file.

I was over at my brother in laws place yesterday to get his help with getting a sound off of Alien. He used this exact setup and it worked perfectly!

But, some DVDs don't let themselves be copied, sound or otherwise, so it's kinda hit or miss.

I don't really have time to sit through the movie right now so if you can tell me where a good sound might be located I'll see if I can grab it for you.

If it helps I have the Special Edition of the film - the one with the opening 9 minutes of Chronicles of Riddick on it.
