The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I know some of you have experience shipping items from the UK to the US.
I'm just wondering how long it usually takes for an item (say PR size) to get over the pond.
I have a USPS tracking number. But since it originated in UK, it won't track all the way to the states. (USPS' word not mine.)
Anyway, just wondering how long it should take.

Do you know what method it was shipped after it hits stateside? I ordered a resin detail kit once from a guy in London and it only took a week or 2 to arrive..

I've never had any shipping experience from that UK that took more than two weeks.

Once the item hits state side the post office is the group that continues the domestic portion of the shipping.

Airmail can be 1-3 weeks, surface can be 1-3months.

Was it sent using international signed for? If so you can track it via Royal Mail in the UK and once in the US can often use USPS.

When we shipped out the trays we were told by the postal employee that they no longer do a slow boat to England. They only fly to England, we were told 10-14 days. They will also give you a tracking number so that you can see were it is.

USPS no longer ships ground/sea from the U to the UK so I was told early last year.

7-10 business days is regular for the US to the UK, but I'd give it up to 2 weeks (14 business days) before you worry as the postal service has a habit of letting stuff sit for a few days.

Thanks guys. I have no idea how it's going once it gets on this side of the pond.
The USPS can't track it once it get to America if it was shipped from GB. (or only 50% of the time.) They can track it over there but not here.
So, a tracking number from GB only lets you know what happened on that side of the pond.
It's all kind of confusing. :?

I have bought a bunch of car and bike parts from Europe over the last 4 years. If you live in the US and buy from Europe use FEDeX or UPS. They are US based and it is easier to track sh**. Tell the shipper that you are willing ot pay for the extra $$$, otherwise you will have to cool your jets for a month or two. Havent lost anything yet with snail mail, but ill update when I get home and take invertory.
