The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So... apparently as The Doctor gets older... he gets younger?

Well, I'll keep an open mind. I'm still mad that they never did anything more with Paul McGann as The Doctor (on screen, not radio).

Russell Davies need to start taking my phone calls. ;)

I'm not in to Dr Who, but I think this is a great choice of actor, having seen him in theatre and on tv.

He won't be an 'unknown' a couple of years from now.
Illustrates how strong the show has become, and how confident the casting is.

NICE ONE!

He looks like an Emo on crack.

I hate the new Doctor Who, its a show for retarded 6 year olds.

The new Doctor will bury the show.

Very crap choice.

Going to wait and see how this new Doctor does before passing judgement. He certainly had some Doctor-ish mannerisms in his interview.

Funny how when people mention Paterson Joseph I never heard reference to him playing a very Doctor-like Marquis De Carabas in Neverwhere (loved that series, kept a copy of it recorded on VHS from the one time it was shown until it finally got a DVD release)

And many of the adults kept saying that about Dr Who in the 60s, 70s and 80s, when Mary Whitehouse wasn't slagging it off for being too violent for television. How much of the guy's acting have you seen?

He's a good actor. Whether he will be a good Doctor remains to be seen. Either way, they could have done much much worse.

He does indeed look like an Emo on Crack.

But... The Doctor is always a quirky character. Give him an appropriately Victorian inspired costume and... we might have a hit.

Dude...

I had the BIGGEST crush on Lalla Ward as Romana and was completely heartbroken to see her leave the show... when I was like... ten or something.

I was thinking about his today at work... :P it seems every time a new actor is cast we have this debate, i can remember people saying the same thing about David Tennant , in fact some one complaining that we might have a Doctor speaking with a Scottish accent..

I think why everyone is talking about the new guy is he is one of the few actors cast as the Doctor who is not a big name.. by that i mean an actor that has carved out a career before becoming the Doctor.

In fact out of the 10 (now 11) actors that haved played the doctor only 5 were well know actors before becoming the Doctor, the rest were people who you knew their faces , but could not remember what they had been in...

I think Tennant left at the right time, if he had stayed any longer it could have damaged it career.... in fact it has killed off at least 2 actors career's playing the Doctor...

Well "Old" Doctor Who is laughably cheesy so of course it damaged some careers. "New" Who can help build a career quite nicely I think. But uh, only if you're the Doctor. Sorry Rose...lol!
