The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So, check this pic out of the new U.S. Navy uniform, which is apparently authorized for wear as of now.

Do the khaki shirts remind anyone of any other branch of service?

What no Disco camo?

What I thought was odd was the rating stripes shown infront of the sleeve crease and not on it.

Didn't one of the G.I. Joe threads have a similar problem with offcenter stripes.?

Yup- it was about my Recondo costume: He has a unit patch on his sleeve, but it faces forward on the figure's bicep rather than being centred on the shoulder where it would normally be.

Outcry posted about this uniform just before D-Con- certainly does resemble a Gorman impression.

Interesting... Not crazy about that- I may be weird, but I loved my cracker jacks. I served with guys who were still talking about the phase out of the all enlisted Chief style uniform and the lose of beards.

As goofy as they were- I thought the idea behind dungarees was that they could be easily rolled up to do deck wash downs (I have a picture of this in action- but it's as goofy as the dungarees) and that they were easy to kick out of if you have to go into the drink and make them into a flotation device (did that in basic- and it actually works!) Those look cool, but...

If you like that, you'll love what Mexico's wearing. I think it's awesome.

Um, the best part? :)

Surely I'm not the only one who has heard the MARINE stands for My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment.

I really hate when the service, any service, changes up their uniforms. Sheesh just find something good and stick with it. I can see the cammies/utes/whatever being changed to fit the flora, but the dress and garrison uniforms should stay the same. I don't think the USMC Dress Blues or Alphas have changed in almost 100 years. Semper Fi, man.

I remember when there was a big stink over women not being allowed to wear the men's uniforms and they changed it so they could. Well, since we are all equal Marines shouldn't then the men be allowed to wear the women's uniform? Doesn't that decision in essence admit that, in the eyes of the military, men are better than women?

(For the record, I believe in equality of the sexes in the military)

But that too is a double edged sword... if both sexes are treated equal, shouldn't they have the same physical requirements? I mean, if a female superior is going to have the same authority as a male superior, shouldn't she have to fufill the same requirements?

All of which of course is way above my pay grade.

Sorry for the tangent. Cancel thread highjack.
