The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi guys, thought I might post and say hello. My name is Chris, and I hail from Maryland. I was at D-Con 08 with the rest of the guys from Maryland (Jay, Rob, Lottie, et al) and it was this con that actually clinched me buying armor. :)

So, hopefully, in the coming months, you'll see one more join the ranks. To be completely honest, before the locals around here got their armor, I wasn't really a huge Aliens fan (ducks from rocks being thrown). But after re-watching the movies, getting more into the prop side of things (I used to be big into props until my Bank account cried out in the night, "Save me! No more!!") I am really enjoying "relearning" Aliens technology and history.

Welp, that's all, hope to see you folks at events! Take care!

Aww crap, you know, I looked for an intro thread and couldn't find one. But then again I couldn't find the chicken in the fridge and apparently it was just behind the orange juice.

Sigh. Oh well, I guess I'm special. =P (err, not THAT kind of special)

I just drank the Vodka and left the OJ alone.

The chicken must still be there.

Oh, and welcome to the site Chris! ;)

While it's much more fun, don't feel you have to sell the dog (or wife/significant other) just to fit in here with armor/gear. Take your time, there's no hurry. Most of us aren't leaving any time soon. :)

Welcome

I have to agree with Rook. I started here with just an interest in Aliens and was looking for info on costumeing.

I syarted on here close to 2 years ago i think, before the board switch. Up until March of this year all I had was BDU's just finished most of my outfit for Dragon Con this year.

This is got to be one of the best groups out there. Most will go out of their way to help.

So Pull up a chair and grab a cold one.

This is always the way....someone hangs out a little with us at D*Con and BHAM....they're hooked and want in :)

Not only is it a great feeling for us, but the feeling for the new person is just as great.

I started out in 2004 when I arrived in the US.
Was just searching the internet blindly and found a little ezboard called the Aliens Legacy.
Hung around for a bit and before I knew it I had a belt tool and some Safariflage BDU's.
Then...oh dear some patches came in the mail.
Then....ohh here's a cheap Pulse Rifle kit.
Then....oh go on then Spat, here's some money for a helmet.

The costume grows in time. You can add as much or as little as you want as time/money and motivation allows.

Welcome.
Sit down, pull up a pue and relax.
We're just a laid back bunch of folks here :)

Ha ha... this is pretty much the same as me!! I found the board a while ago and just started reading into everyone's posts as much as I could - costumes, props, discussions. Soon there were Safariflage BDU's and then patches, tags, a service number... then I went a little trigger happy with the credit cards and paypal and I'm now waiting on 3PAT's, Matt's PR bag, grenade straps, M40's from DATA and more parcels!! :D :?

Keep an eye on your finances!! The guys on here make and supply amazing props and equipment.... you'll be just as hooked!!! :D

Yeah. Disposable income is something I should never have.

I started piecing together a marine costume back in May. 3 months later, I had armor, weapons, patches, and a 2 thousand dollar hole in my bank account.

Don't let it consume you.

Too late for me. :(

Welcome to the board! Have fun!

Just try to pace yourself with your funds. There's no hurry with our group. 8)

I first showed up here about this time last year after meeting a few of you guys at D*Con last year (namely, Chris FNG and Sean). Before then, I was toying with the idea of going with a colonial marine costume, but seeing how you all got along, the camaraderie you all possessed, I just had to get into it.

As some of you may know, I am a member of the 501st-- a garrison XO and the assistant detachment leader for the biker scouts-- but I had one hell of a great time hanging out with you all this year and I didn't miss being in the Empire one iota. Thanks, all.
