The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I normally don't review movies because even when they're good, they're not great, and not really worthy of my time to review or talk about.

But then I saw Tropic Thunder.

I literally cried from laughing so hard three times during the film. I haven't laughed this hard during a movie in at least 5 years, maybe even 10.

From the opening (fake) commercial and movie credits, all the way to the closing credits, it's just brilliant.

All the acting was dead on. Ben Stiller and Jack Black usually start to annoy me after a while on screen in movies, but this time they were on screen just enough to stay funny and really hit the funny stuff on the nose without becoming irritating. I will officially stop sending hate mail to Ben Stiller asking for my money back for Night at the Museum and Starsky and Hutch. We're good now.

Robert Downey Jr. Oh My God. Funny as hell. I can't believe how good a black man he can play.

And Tom Cruise. Yes, Tom Cruise. He has officially erased all that Scientology, jumping on Oprah's Couch, batshlt crazy stuff. If he never does anything stupid or insane again, he will go out being remembered as a brilliant actor. His best role EVER. In all honesty, he deserves an Oscar for what he did in this film.

So, best movie of the year hands down. Bring a tissue, and some thick underwear, you will laugh so hard you'll leak out all your holes.

Booty Sweat!

I've been looking forward to this movie for a while now!

Haven't seen it yet but cannot wait after hearing what Spat just said! :D

I think I'm much like Spat (more than I care to admit   ) in that comedies rarely make me laugh. I might smile and chuckle once or twice- but it is a rare thing for me to laugh uncontrollably at a movie... I've become a bit sombre in my old age.

Last film that made me laugh hard was Reno 911 The Movie- it's that level of childish stupid humour that tickles my funny bone.

So if it made Spat laugh out loud, I'm sure I will find it to be brilliant! :D

You WILL laugh out loud. Like for real LAUGH OUT LOUD, not LOL.

I also loved how they rip on the movie biz and all the odd and freaky things that go on during the making of a movie, as well as the idiosyncrasies of actors, agents and movie execs.

Just perfectly executed.

Every cliche, every homage (and there were a lot of them), so well done.

I was a bit apprehensive as I normally don't like soldiers being portrayed as fools... but the the director stepped on a land mine. It was pretty fun to watch.

I loved the difference between the "Fake" movie gore and the "Real" gore when the soldiers get off the set and into the real jungles.

Saw the trailer when we went to the preview of Hellboy2. It certainly looks like a lot of fun & reading your review Spat,it`s just confirming that.

Cannot wait till it opens over here.

I was watching The Soup on E! and right afterwards there was a True Hollywood Stories on about the "cast" of Tropic Thunder, pieced together from old interviews and the "found" footage from the filming of the movie.

I saw this over the weekend and thought it was pretty good. It's one of those films that's going to get better in time and with repeated viewings.

I really didn't know much about the movie going into it other than the basics. The movie surprised me, and even shocked me, all in good ways.

If you haven't seen it yet, and you're not coming to dcon this weekend, go see it. It's great.
