The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

That doesn't involve pre-made cornbread mix like you can find in the US? You know, something scratch-built. :p Been looking a bit on the net and found lots of recipes for changing the flavour of those basic mix breads - but not scratch recipe.

I could go on looking, but before I do that, I thought maybe asking the Marines here would make some sort of sense!

Cheers guys, I'll look into it.

I'm planning a sci-fi/fantasy themed dinner at some point. I though about Soylent Green crackers, Gagh, Lembas bread, Hasparat sandwiches... Then I remembered the cornbread from Aliens. Can't forget that one!

I hate Turkish Delight, and so does one of my regular dinner partners, so that one's out - and we already drink so much Earl Grey we might as well all be bald and Fre... oh, wait, I've got that bit covered at least. :P

Slim Jims... Not sure you can find those in Ireland, but I can probably whip up something along those lines - cool idea, thanks!

As for the blue milk - that's a great idea! I'd thought about making "Smurf liquor" - make a bottle of some blue alcohol (vodka+blue curacao, probably) and at the last minute add the head of a toy smurf in there; but the Tattooine blue milk will be more in keeping with the theme!

Keep 'em coming, guys, this is cool!

Oh... I have to get my hands on my Dark Crystal DVD. There's got to be something in that banquet I can reproduce!

There's an idea... Props could help, actually...
Like something to make the Gagh squirm.

I just thought of something else I have to try: Spice Melange sticks.
This is going to be fun, but is going to require a good deal of trial and error I think!

Chinese food works for Firefly/Serenity as well.

Not "scifi" per se, but you could do some dishes from Pankot Palace (Temple of Doom). Snake Surprise, Sheep's head, Eyeball soup, Beetles, and of course Chilled Monkey Brains.
