The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Studio just released a pile of promotional images of the characters featuring in the live action GI Joe movie.

Oh look, all the costumes are black (well, apart from one)

Well that confirms it, the movie is going to suck massive Donkey Balls.

GI Joe is an elite military task force that wears normalish BDUs. Black rubberized jumpsuits just makes it that much uglier and cheesier.

Black Rubber = Cobra, not Joe.

This is worse than the Transformer movie.

Weak...

Just like they did with the Doom movie. Hell, just about any movie based on existing IP.

Hint to film makers: there's a big clue in the name G.I. Joe...

Hell...I didn't even have to look at the costumes, just knowing that a prior America's Next Top Model and one of the Wayans brothers (excluding Damon) is in it, is enough for me to say.....SUCKAGE.

From those pics, the chick wearing glasses (who looks like a common whore and not an aristocrat) is the Baroness.

Christopher Eccleston standing in front of the MARS door is Destro.

Snake eyes looks kinda like he should. but like you said, cobra are the guys in the rubber ninja suits and the G.I's are supposed to be ultimate baddasses... just like us.

Here's a bunch of details re: the movie including the suits and just about every other ridiculous thing you can think of. It's probably best we keep this to a costume discussion. If the conversation shifts to the fact that the movie isn't even about "A Real American Hero" anymore politics and pride are sure to appear and step on some delicate toes. Personally Ang and I have decided not to see this for many reasons. The "look" of the characters just being one of them.

Wow, continuing to rape my childhood.

Sad Chris sad. I'll still see it. If I can survive watching Speed Racer without my head exploding, I can survive GI Joe.

So they're using Sigma 6 armor? WTF?!

Speed was at least in the spirit of the original. This "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity" movie has chosen to dump all over the history and integrity of the franchise.

My problems with Speed Racer was more about... it being the W brothers version of Spy Kids and pandering to children (Cooties) and yet including line such as "Get that weak shit off my track". That and the seizure inducing race sequences and the fact it was about 15 minutes too long...

But Speed was still a racer, with strong family ties, and gadgets on his car. This movie has ignored all what G.I.Joe is about in the name of global marketing.

LOL, Chris we're old enough to remember the '80s cartoons GI Joe was about marketing back in the day. :)

Yeah I do agree totally though the Global Integrated Jolt Of Economy movie looks more sucktacular than Diary of the Dead.

I'll just stick with my 25th anniversary toys... and weep that they already reuse too many parts and give us too many versions of characters I was never a fan of in the first place. :(

It's pretty funny that they have a character known simply as "the doctor" given that cast member.

This is going to be a trainwreck.

Actually, on the theme of costumes, the kit looks very Metal Gear Solid-esque...

Well yeah. And that would be great... if it were a MGS movie.

And seriously... did they need to make Ripcord a Wayans?

I do remember that and ate it up...but the toys represented something else too. The comic and show we're very patriotic and not ashamed to flash the old red, white and blue.

That's true. Heck they're even doing a super patriotic Duke with jetpack and giant American flag figure. And I don't mind if they had someone like Big Bear or Red Star in the movie... but if the team is all American... well it's not very "global".

NWO and all that jazz I suppose.

Wait a minute!

All my GI Joe toys (Stryker, Vamp, the rocket base, bivouac, the helecopter on and on and on)...

Had CANADA stickers with Canadian flags!

Now you're telling me GI Joe was only Americans? :o

My childhood has been shattered.

The movie is going to suck though.

Was it still called G.I. Joe Kev? I know overseas it was "Action Force" in several places.

Seriously? I didn't know about that variant. Maybe they only gave you the Canadian characters over there.
