The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ok this has been on a couple of boards now:

Just wondered what everyone thought of this...

While I didn't find it particularly amusing- I wasn't terribly upset by it either.

What I'd like to know is what set the two off to give the guy on the ground an old fashioned ass whuppin'. It's never shown, and no one seems to know. Word is that "Batman" has a bad temper, and has been banned from Hollywood Blvd after his last arrest.

Near as can anyone can tell- it appears that Batman lost his cape (Spiderman can be seen picking it up off the ground, and Batman is capeless as he turns to leave). It's been assumed that the mohawk guy ripped Bats' cape off.

This video has caused a bit of a stir among the Superhero costuming community- basically that with the possibility of children present, you need to uphold a high degree of restraint while in costume. Even if you are treated with disrespect- you don't go postal and lay a beatdown (no matter how much a jerk might deserve it).

I'm a bit on the fence- just about all the costumes I wear to conventions are in the $800 to $1100 range (not trying to blow my horn, just making a point  ). All of them are one of a kind and pretty much irrreplacable. If some drunken idiot wrecked my costume (even just part of it) on purpose... man it would take a lot not to go ballistic on the guy.

I dunno- what do you all think?

LOL. On Hollywood BLVD it is just a bunch of druggies and whackos wearing costumes to force you to give them money and take pictures with them. They could care less if they were Batman or Beetlejuice. And I doubt they could tell you anything relevant about Batman either.

Not as bad or funny as "Batman is going to get shot in the face"

THAT WAS GREAT! I think we need more costumed vigilantes beating street punks in clearview of the public.

Well, that's a good point... it certainly would make terrorists think twice about coming here and trying to screw with us. The fact that we have costumed whackos going around randomly beating people would certainly scare the living shnite outta me...

.... but realistically speaking, I've been subject of physicial abuse while in costume while in a public place once. Although I showed restraint (besides, how hell can you possibly fight while inside clone armour), I certainly never made anymore public appearances in costume (on the exception of the DCon parade, but let's face it... it's a well-organized event).

Costumed in a public space can often spell trouble... just avoid it all together. Take it from a friend of mine that took a rock to his Scout Trooper helmet.

Wow, I would not have believed this had I not experienced this first had last week. Tis true. No worries Kev, the costumes these guys wear in front of the Chinese Theater are probably worth about $5 each. And they all smell bad, and act worse.

Yep- been told exactly that.

One of the guys from the League of Heroes board works on Hollywood Blvd (He's one of the good,
"non-crack whore" costumers- does a Davy Jones from POTC among others). He said that nearly all the costumers are homeless people/drug addicts who have scrounged together costumes from the local costume shop up the street.

They are basically begging for money in the form of having your picture taken with them. They are incredibly territorial about who works where (much like prostitutes and drug dealers- another staple of Hollywood Blvd at night), and have no problem beating the crap outta someone who steps on their turf.

"Batman" has been arrested several times for aggressive behavior, harassing tourists, and assault. He's a real nutjob.

We saw a Davy Jones, wonder if it was him. Nice costume. Stood out of course from the rest of the dregs including a hash addict Snoopy. And several Scientologists
