The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all

New here, joined so I could say a big THANK YOU to Spat himself for pointing me to this site so I could get the discount on the armour I've just ordered. 8)

Sadly, but understandably, I probably won't get it now before Chrimbo, but I'm so, so looking forward to it all arriving. :D

So thanks again Spat and cool forum all round.

Welcome aboard Marine & you`ll be mighty impressed with the armour when it arrives :D

Plus you`ll have all the new mods on your`s where we have had to upgrade,so there`s a Big perk just there :D

So what colour did you opt for?

Also punk,if you got the READY line section there`s a "sticky" thread for intro`s there. Be so good to post there if you will & introduce yourself :D

Welcome to the UKCM btw :D

Jason

Cheers for the welcome Teckno/Jason, have finally made my introduction as suggested.

I went for the Dark green armour as I'll be painting it up myself.

I am toying with the idea of possibly doing a German style Colonial Marine. :?
I already have a few Flecktarn items/webbing and some Tropentarn (Desert Flecktarn camo) BDU's. 8)
So I thought it might look cool with the Armour/Helmet painted Flecktarn with the Tropentarn BDU's.

What do you/anybody think?

Are there German Colonial Marines already here?
What do you think they would be called?
Some ideas
DCM - Deutschland - too short?
GCM - German - also too short?
BWCM - Bundeswehr?
BDCM- Bundesrepublik Deutschland?

Also have some British Desert DPM BDU's that I'm going to make stencils , based on the real BDU's, too add a third dark colour and possibly a bit of white. :?

Hey Punk,

Sounds great & I do believe there are indeed German Colonial Marines out there (check colonialmarines.net & sign yourself up too).

I`ve seen many USCMs wearing ACUs or Marpat camo & having a set of Flecktarn myself,I know it looks good so Tropentarn will look amazing mate.

Also for the British look, technically as we`re the UKCM DPM is perfect & Arrid DPM even moreso :D Just as they are, though adding an extra colour would certainly make them more interesting :D

Have seen the CM Armour on DPM combats & the good old Woolie Pully & it works a treat mate.

As for a name for the German CMs unless a German pipes up here,I`d say DKCM - Deutschland Kriegs Colonial Marines.

Hope some of this helps mate :D

Colonial Marine would more likely be translated as Kolonialmarine, making the likely name "Deutschland Kolonialmarine"... DK is not quite as catchy. :)

There is no harm in wearing the USCM patches on your domestic camo. Many have done it, or worse!

Cheers for the replies.

Not sure about using 'Deutschland Kriegs' as I think that means 'German War' :?

As for using 'Kolonialmarine', again not sure as Marine means Navy.
So I think leaving the CM Colonial Marines part untranslated would be the best and try to find something German for the first 2 letters. :?

Yes, any German members got ideas?
From the other site it seems most Germans wear USCM insignia.

Glenn,
Spat`s helmet  doesn`t come with dropdown Infa red sight yet. Though I do recall he mentioned that will be coming sometime.
There have been though several methods of achieving this yourself with a current Spat helmet.

They are historically, but Marines refuse to acknowledge this and will happily start fights over the issue. I should know - I've been in more than one of them!

Sorry about trying to swing this back onto the topic, but...

Only a little over a week to get the UK free shipping on armor deal! And then you go back to paying $60+ for shipping. So get in on it now! Armor makes a great gift for friends, family, pets, in-laws, grandparents, etc.
