The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all

I found out today that there is a collectors fair being held at the Pyramids Centre in Southsea, Portsmouth on Saturday 1st December. A friend of mine knows the 2 brothers organising it and put me on the phone with one of them.

It is only a one day event at the moment as this is the first such event which will have been held down this way for quite some time. He was quite excited about the idea of having Aliens, Predator and Marines at the show. At the moment they only have some Star Trek guys coming and the organisers themselves will be in costume as well.

I would really like to support this event and see that it does well in the hope that there will be more. They said that if they do well then it may be something they do every 6 months.

The show is on the Saturday only and will run from 10am to 6pm.
I believe they will be having some original props there including an original R2D2 and some Blakes 7 (Liberator model?) stuff as well.

So, do we have any UKCM that would be interested in attending the show.

Cheers

Darren

There is a Premier Inn Located just off the motorway and is next door to a Beefeater restaurant. Website shows the price as £48 for a twin room, so only £24 each. Depend on wether people would show up Sat morning or Friday night though of course.

How far is hotel from venue Darren? Would we be getting free entry? What's the parking situation?

It'd be a Fri drive down and Sun drive back for me meaning 2H nites so i'm 50% interested :)

The hotel is just outside Portsmouth main and is prob about a 10 min drive from the venue. Parking is available at the hotel I believe and at the venue though we would probably have to pay there. One option would be to put as much gear in my van as possible then everyone bundle into one or two cars and then share the parking.

Entry to the event would be free I am told. It is only £2 anyway but still free for us.

I need to speak to the guy again to ask about the table he offered and changing facilities etc.

Cheers

Darren

Will have my Dad van in the new year so I will have transport and plenty of space.

So I guess you can count me out.

I hope the rest of you have fun.

I spoke to the organiser again earlier and confirmed that entry will be free, we have been offered a table (approx 6ft long) and this is free as we are only displaying props etc for their benefit and not selling anything.

I am waiting to hear about changing facilities though. As I said this is the first one of these shows that these guys have done so I dont expect everything to be perfect first time.

I have asked the question though and said that all we really need is a room that the public dont have access to.

I have sent him a list of all the people who have expressed an interest regardless of wether they are definites or not. This is just so he knows what the maximum number of us will be although it may be less. Also he is thinking of doing name cards so needed to know in advance.

Cheers

Darren

There's approximately 76 million B&B's right opposite the venue... (30 seconds walk)

Well, at least a couple hundred. ;)

I just had an email from the show organiser to say that he has arranged to use the venue's changing room, which are separate from the public changing rooms.

Means I won't have to get nekkid in public again! :)

Actually I have a horror story about dressing up as a Stormtrooper in the public loos at a toyfair!

but it's best left for a 'stories over beers' session!
