The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm not sure you could get it back on if you took it off...

Yes you can take the bipod off.
To do it you have to take all the screws out of the body of the gun and split it in half.
Inside you will have access to the screws that hold the bipod on.
One screw per leg....hmm not so sure that sounds right.

I've never tried to remove it, but I figure strong pliers might work.

Yeah I left the cocking handle off mine- didn't care for how it looked.

I still have to weather mine, but before I do... I'm going to attach this little baby (courtesy of a certain Resin God) to the main muzzle:

Wadda ya think? Will it look a bit Morita-ish?

Uhm... Rex? I'm not sure how safe it would be to use a "muzzle flash" on a plastic gun because of the flame and heat it emits. However, simply using the flash muzzle should be just fine. ;) :P

Do what they did in SST2 man, use LED's. Hyperdyne makes a kit.

So... I just bought one of these... and I have no idea how to paint it, though threads like this are helping a great deal.

What have people found to be the best brand paint to use on it?

What are you having trouble with ?
I'm sure I can help you out.
I used krylon paints on mine.
Before you pint make sure you give the entire surface of the gun a light sanding with some 220 sandpaper, the wash it down with hot soapy water.
then prime.

Indeed.

Especially make the effort to sand off the "Nerf Longshot" and "N-Strike" symbols. It look ridiculous with them simply painted over.

Still have to decide what colour scheme I want to have with mine. It's totally flat black right now (Krylon Ultra Flat Black).

I was thinking of having it sooooo weathered that it would look more silver than black (like a T2 Plasma rifle), however if I add the M60 flash suppressor I figure I have to give it a greyish Morita paint job.

Decisions... Decisions.

I would simply used GUN METAL Paint Tamya spray like and the Brown for pads or grips (wheathering could be made with a first primer of steel color like
(rumor that Krylon won't be avaible in Europe growing whereas Krylon USA still claimed to product it)

I used Krylon Fusion Ultra Flat Black. Gives it a "parkerized" look as well.

But as Kevin mentioned, sand off all logos!! I also puttied the screw holes...

Not to sound totally naive, here, but... where can Krylon paints be purchased?

No Tony, you've got it right. The Krylon Fusion Ultra Flat Black are the "camo" part of the Krylon line.

And no sign of them here in the UK!

-Edit-
Just saw mention of other UKers suffering the same problem, and the ripoff solution. FIFTY BLEEDIN' QUID? That's the exchange rate in reverse, isn't it?
I think they must have a pretty shrewd idea that they're the sole supplier...
