Got mine friday too. I asked that it be un-painted like Greg's above. I believe Yorkshire offered a painting service, but I have some original formula brown bess that will be perfect for this.
All in all...not without flaws but still VERY HAPPY! I think I will do a video about the cleanup and paint. I'll post it here as soon as it is ready!

I'm pretty sure that nearly all the flaws it has were present on the original stunt PRs if you compare them closely.

I have no doubt that much of it is authentic and should not be touched. That is where I find myself in a balancing act (original flaw vs. 3rd gen flaw of casting that needs correcting).
The original stunts were casts of the "forward hero" "forward (vent) examples"


So the true screen used stunt was a cast off that. The seller, yorkshire props had access to a cast of screen used stunt and himself cast that. We are all buying casts off his cast of the screen used stunt. I don't believe it to be an insult to acknowledge we are 3 times removed from original with this cast. I even slapped theirs against an HCG and there is NO SHRINKAGE!!! I think this is great!

This is in no way an insult to Yorkshire props who I LOVE (as stated) the final product that I have purchased from them. EVERYONE SHOULD BUY IT!!!. However, we are talking about 3rd gen casts. Faults will be present that deviate from the orginal and my plan is to correct them when identified. That is all i'm saying. Air bubbles especially will be dealt with !

Whenever I get one, I know where I'm sending it to get finished LOL

So I was showing a friend of mine this replica. She thought it was cool but she let me know of a law here in Canada that's basically "unless the replica (in this case the pulse rifle) comes in parts, it's prohibited in Canada and will likely be seized by customs".

Replica pulse rifles like a resin kit that needs to be built are fine but considering this is one piece, I'm now hesitant to find out the hard way.

My advice would be to simply ask if it's ok:

"Information on importing a device that is not a prohibited replica is available from the Canada Border Services Agency at 1-800-461-9999.

For more information, contact the CFP."

There are two things that might make this ok:
- While the PR is built from parts of existing firearms, it does not replicate any existing firearm.
- If you buy a raw (e.g. unpainted) version it might further help your case, as it makes it obvious, that it's no real firearm.

It may be worth asking if the PR could be supplied in its separate halves too, for assembly by you. That way at least it is a 'kit', albeit made of just two parts.

There are two moulds, one for each half - so I presume they're both fibre-glassed then stuck together somehow.

Yep the mold has to be two pieces to remove the original and later the cast(s).
However, the way I understand the casting process for this piece, is that the mold is moved/turned while the resin is curing.
Thus creating a single but hollow piece instead of two halfes that have to be fitted together.

This process should work with fiberglass too: You place the fiberglass into the mold with some resin so it sticks to the mold walls, then you add additional resin, close the mold and start to move/roll it until the resin has cured.
And voila - a simgle piece, hollow fiberglass cast.

I've recently started work on my Yorkshire Props replica. Compared to the original stunt PRs there are, as bigbisont says in his video, a LOT of air bubbles and dings in this thing that weren't on the original props. I've started going over mine with some filler as you can see here:

This leads me to believe that the 'YP-PR' Pulse Rifle is probably not based on a first generation casting of one of the originals. I can also back that claim up as I have a similar casting that I bought from eBay a few years ago and that doesn't have as many imperfections as the YP version, although it's much (much!) heavier. My favourite thing about the 'YP-PR' is how light it is.

Next week (after payday) I'm planning to get some paint mixed using my original Ripley Data disc as reference and, if all works out well I'll paint it with that.
