You may have noticed that some websites have a custom icon that appears next to their name in the Bookmarks/Favourites menu in your browser.

Well, I think AL needs one!

We need an image (gif or png) that is 16x16 pixels in size that Aliens-related or otherwise "fits" AL. Some guidelines:

1. The icon must be exactly 16x16 pixels in size
2. The image itself must be either square, or be surrounded by transparency.
3. Photos rarely look good when crushed down to 16x16. AFAIK, the best way to make them is to make a 16x16 blank image in a paint program, max out the zoom and colour in the pixels "by hand"

The prize for this competition is to have your work immortalised in everyone's browser menu!

I'm not sure how it will be judged yet, a poll may be involved (provided the feature isn't disabled by then ... ). I don't know what the closing date will be; maybe just when we have a few decent entries...

Now it's easy to create icons for your web pages with FavIcon from Pics. Simply select a picture, logo or other graphic (of any size/resolution) for the "Source Image" and click "Generate FavIcon.ico"

I've used that in the past myself.

You'd probably still need to play around with the finished image, but it does some of the work for you.

Excellent work, Kevin!! I'm a bit partial to the delta patch too.

If you can use the larger layered psd version that I made, please don't hesitate to let me know. It's about 600 pixels or better but easy to scale back. The layers contain all the color separations so it would be easier to change up when / if needed. I've used it to creat table/cell background images like this and such:

IMHO, it is an extremely versatile logo and iconic to the ALIEN(S) fan base.


BTW - This is a neat idea for the forum. Little details like this make for a more visually polished site. Kudos!!
