The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've never yet failed to cause a DJ to make a face like they're sucking a lemon whenever I make requests. I intend to maintain this record. I'll have a think.

But I'll keep my pleasure to myself.

I will be cancelling the extra room in the convention hotel in the next two days if no one wants it.

I currently have TWO rooms in the convention hotel booked for checkin Friday and checkout Sunday.
- The "Admiral Suite" (One huge bed and a jacuzzi) -£London Prices
- A double room (One double bed) - £55/night, but I did think it was £55 in total :(

Both can be cancelled up to 7 days before. I was planning on the 3/4 southern types sleeping in the suite and having it available to all for storage, daytime chill and UKCM hottubbing.

However, does anyone want to take on the other room? I will need to know - I will be cancelling it pretty soon.

Hm.
There's a fair chance I now won't be DJing this now... While looking around for a PA system, a local DJ basically quoted less to DJ himself and bring kit than would cost to hire just the PA from elsewhere. :(

Hopefully I'll still be able to do an hour or two of the party, though! Depends if he's gonna be decent about it. Hope so, so we can still get some geek- and gorehound-friendly tunes in there :)

Also, they've asked us about doing a bug Hunt during the day.
How many Marines we gonna have, and how many Xenos?

Having been to the Hotel when we did the promo photos a couple months back.

I think you are looking at more of an outdoor event with the BUG Hunt guys.
You have tight corridors on the ground floor and the function rooms being used are going to be packed and are not that huge.

So take into account the tables, dealers, talk area, film area, guests area and then public, I honestly believe outdoor maybe the better.

BTW Not watching Anyone's kiddies :p

I'm still bringing my laptop and mixer, on the offchance that the DJ is reasonable about letting me use his amp and speakers for a bit, and give him a break ;)

was a good turn out yesterday and thanks to those who came as i think the UKCM was a hit. its a shame the venue was so crammed for the xeno's and pred's but lets hope the next one is an improvement. but all in all i think the UKCM was a hit. unsure if any of you had a woman from the Evening Chronicle interview you as she stopped me to take a photo and asked me for an interview so game a big shout to us all here. i think the Xeno's and Pred's were a big hit that day as we out did the trekkies and starwars.

next big one up here i think will be Newcastle Film & Comic Con so might be good if we could get a big one setup for that with a UKCM table as well. maybe Gareth could sort something out for us :)

was also good to meet a few of you as well in the short time i was there. but hey thats kids for you was a long day for them with being up at 6 to travel over to the venue.

Cheers
Gav

Fuck yeah.

That really proved that even if the con itself has issues, if the organisers are aware of them and do their best - Promising to resolve anything unfixable on the day next time... And the company is good and in the right mood... The day will be epic.

I can honestly say that that was the most fun I've had at a con for bloody ages, and was the best aftershow I've ever DJed or attended.

Thanks to all who were there, especially those who stayed for the aforementioned party.
Even the friends who don't dance.
