The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So....Yesterday I was at SDCC. Dark Horse and SEGA hired a group of Colonial Marines to come in and pitch for them for the new game. Does anyone know about this?? Then they were flabergasted when I told the marketing guy that there is a group right here in So Cal that probably would have done it for a hotel room and tickets to Comic Con considering he told me they flew these guys in from the Mid West.

Only good thing is they had the original Alien Queen prop which was pretty cool.

Sega certainly know we're worldwide, not just based in one state of the US, but it's up to the local Marines/Xenos to contact them to see if they need anyone at local shows.

I imagine they asked the members they already knew from other shows (Sean Maio and Tentacle Chris in this case) if nobody contacted them from So Cal beforehand?

I know Sean was trying to get things arranged so he could go. Do not know if he did.

*Correction. He did make it out there and got pic with Syd Mead.

Thanks!

That was indeed Angie (Mermear), Sean (Outcry) and I at both the SEGA and Dark Horse Comics booths doing our best to promote the franchise we all love as we have been doing for more than a year and a half. Gaming companies are huge and have to jump through many, many hoops to get any kind of approval for walk around characters. We've worked with them since the MLG Finals were in our backyard here in Orlando along with the launch of AVP 2.

Please understand that when the topic of conventions outside of our area popped up all three of us were eager to point out the fact we're a friendly and worldwide fan group with members located near many of the events. That said since the corporate brass was already familiar with our work they opted to continue using us. We have made it a point to keep everyone in the loop each con and of course grab as much of the incredible swag for our family here as we can usually for a DragonCon dispersal.

Also, not everyone on the floor has all the information about all the brands, or those associated with them, at an event. Case in point: the Midwest fallacy. At SDCC we hung out with several old Legacy friends and met many new Marines. If I see a Marine I don’t know I make sure to introduce myself and, thanks to Sean, hand him a business card for our site so he can join in on the fun. As a member here I feel that’s my duty while not only representing SEGA but also our fandom at large. A snarky attack from someone who didn’t even bother to say “hello” and then mentions that the “only cool thing” was the Alien Queen seems to miss the whole point of this group. It comes across as disrespectful and petty. Something we should all be above.

Yay, Lewis! I'm so happy to see you on here! So sorry we weren't able to make it to hang with you guys. Dinner ended up taking forever! Will you be coming to Orlando for SWCelebration with Lawrence and Grace?
