The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Go ahead, rub it in. I can't find my digital calipers. :)

The width is slightly more narrow than 1 5/16".

What did you do to fit the KTM?

Any step by step build tips would be appreciated of course.

Did you take any pics of the rifle with the internals arranged before you bolted it together?

Oh, and I'll PM you my shiping address. ;)

Whoa! Just catching up. Looks fantastic Rick. Nice to see you at least got the KTW in there & working too. 8)

Even the film doesn't seem to illustrate what a monster of a rifle the Morita is!

What did you use for the front end barrel clamp plate? Do you have a template?
I need to make one for my own custom rifle.

Were the screen used ones green?
Or is it a custom colour?

I like it either way :)

There's a complete kit going on the rpf.... I only I had some currency....

yeah, the screen used ones were a green-ish grey color. Dom would probably be able to tell you what the correct variant is.

The color was a part oof the material itself as I recall. The foam rifles were actually green and not painted.
I think the fiberglass ones were cast in color as well.

Most people use OD green of some sort.

The body armor was also cast in color and not painted.

Coloring changes depending on lighting conditions... something Aliens fans have had to deal with for years. :)

The colors were custom mixed by the production team. The final results you see on screenused props today
come from age, handling and lighting conditions 15 years later.

According to a member of the Whiskey Outpost forums, the closest helmet color match is Model masters Panzer Gray.

Stunt Moritas were all cast in self skinning green foam and not painted.

"Fleet" stunt moritas were cast in black foam.

The fiberglass morita shells were also cast in green.

For replicas, some use OD green, some Italian Olive. I'm sure there's other color variants that would work as well.
One person suggested "Testors Acryl US Army Helo Drab #34031 (4723)".

Russ,

It's molded as part of the shell but I have a cast resin clamp I can trace, and or do whatever you need to get you measurements. I would love to have one in steel and have been considering gettingone machined.

Reaper, yeah everything screen used is actually greenish, and this paint is a black base, then russian olive top, then a mist of Tamiya TS-2 Dark Green from about two feet.

Then I put is all together and went out and chucked it in the dirt.

I'd appreciate a tracing of the barrel clamp when you have time!
