The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hmm... The guy in the Evike video does make it look light. Stated weight from the UK based dealer below is 3.9kg which I'm guessing will be similar to my G&P/King Arms build, unless there are more plastic parts in this Snow Wolf version of course.

http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/Snow-Wol ... 1258G.aspx

Light weight for gaming could be seen as a good thing though & if it's not a limited poduction run then it's just made a PR much more accessible to airsofters who are also big fans of these films.

I already have two friends talking about buying one of these who had previously ruled out a G&P based one due to the cost & the 'self build' nature of it.

Cheers.

John. :)

Well after playin with it. not charged yet but the gun is nice and heavy the M1A1 body is metal, the barrel, stock and barrel shroud are also metal. the sad part the spas cage is ABS but hopin maybe later to mod that out and also put a useable shotty in it. the bright orange tips are a must gotta go. and the slide for the GL move to easy. other wise the gun in my eyes are worth the $350 for some1 wanting a starter. and does not want a heavy resin version. and i need to find a 9 volt to test the counter. and wondering if anyone here sells the bottoms for the mag well i think it would be kool to get alot more and make extra real mags for cons.
UPDATE: i test fired it now and its a pretty good gun. RPS:9.4 FPS:400 avg. but that is with a 8.4v Small Stick Type. range no clue since it was 0330 when i shot it....

If its not already been posted, action hobbies in the UK are selling them as Snow Wolf brand for about 350 at the moment ( and they are in stock)

Looks good for the money if I'm honest. Bought here in the UK it'll save you in excess of £200 over buying a King Arms M1A1 & the G&P kit.

The external finish seems more glossy than the G&P kit but that could just be the images I guess.

Yes, in fact it is a fairly dull matt O/D but the barrel and the GL unit are a gunmetal grey as is the stock - will paint it to match the movie props but AFTER the Guarantee expires (I plan to skirmish with it!).
Bought from a UK retailer it comes in at around £335 delivered so you save £40 on the price of the G&P kit plus you get a free thompson and no assembly required :D

Hi mate,

Are you the same Sledge Hammer from the UKVNAS forums? Just curious.

It does sound like a dead ringer for the G&P kit even down to the finish. If you want a PR for airsoft then this has just become THE way to get one I reckon. :D

I'm chuffed with my G&P/King Arms model & really enjoyed building it. However I'd be daft to say I would've still gone that route if I'd known this Snow Wolf model was imminent. I could've almost bought two for the same money!

I see more UK dealers are stocking them now too. Zero One & The Grange are the latest.

All the best.

John. :)

Yes John,
I generally hang around on a few Forums such as TeamKGB and Gasgunsinfo - in fact I was trying to get out of AEG's when I saw this one!.
Although I live in hope that one day WE will make a GBB Thompson so I can do an internals swap

Back after a bit of a break... Anyway, I remember your informative reviews of the WE M14 & M16A1 on UKVNAS. I'm guessing you're still using those too.

The Pulse Rifle AEG was just too tempting I though I guess. WE have done some pretty innovative stuff in recent years to I wouldn't totally rule out a gas M1A1 in the future.

All the best.

John. :)

Anyone take it apart yet, I got the shells open but the shotgun is married to the back half pretty firmly...DOn't want to break it if someone has some experience with it.

Hi Rick,

I can onlly speak for the G&P version but if the Evike/Snow Wolf model is a direct clone then the shotgun/launcher cage is secured to the right shroud only, with three self tapping screws. You'll need to remove the left half of the shotgun/launcher cage first.

It's probably best illustrated here in PVB's excellent guide for the G&P kit:-

http://www.medwaypvb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/pulse7.html

If everything is the same then you could use this guide in reverse for complete takedown & re-assembly.

Hope that's of some help.

John. :)

I picked one of these up at Airsoft Extreme a while back. They're not nearly as good as the TM M1A1 + G&P M41A kit, but for something off the shelf and $350, it's okay. It feels light and cheap, and it is made in china...

Kind of glad you said that Aaron, especially after spending all that extra money on my G&P/King Arms based one.

This Evike/Snow Wolf model has been good for the fact the it's brought a PR to the airsoft masses though. :D

Regards.

John. :)

I'm probably going to take my TM M1A1 out of the G&P kit, and toss in some other Thompson. The TM ones are just too nice to toss into a kit like that.

At $350 each I could probably buy a few of these, and then have a few battle buddies roll as a USCM fire team in a nearby airsoft game. Hahahaha! :delta:

I took a photo for comparison:

I picked up mine at AEX. They are in stock in the stores across California, and are in stock in the warehouse, and ready to ship.

No worries Rick. Hope you get along ok.

Aaron thanks for posting that pic. It's interesting to see the differences between the HGC & the two airsoft models. :D

Is the HGC seen as the benchmark for an accurate replica of the M41A these days?

Cheers.

John. :)

I corrected my typo, it's HCG.
As you can see from the photo, the HCG has some smoother edges, overall a few minor better characteristics, and from what I've been told, the Aluminum shrouds on it are actually molded from the real ones. The colors are a little more accurate, and while it's also made in China, it is an officially licensed product from 20th Century Fox.

LOL! I thought it was HCG but then thought "Aaron's obviously been around here for some time so he must be right."

Thanks for the lowdown. It does look & sound like a really nice replica, but definitely at a price!

Cheers.

John. :)
