The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Although I'm not involved with any of this, I was wondering why you guys arn't taking your armour with you?
Loads of guys from the 501st have taken full stormtrooper, vader, biker scout etc armour. A few guys have taken other costumes. I'm sure our CO took his Batman '89 costume with him to dragon con.
I'm interested because I hope one day I'll make the trip over there, either with the 501st or with some other outfit.

They are taking their armour (or a bare essentials variant of the kit at least). As air travel gets more expensive each year, and the baggage allowances tighter, the guys are just having to think carefully about what any additional costume is gonna take in terms of luggage space, weight and practicality.

The group costume isn't a serious thing, more of a fun in the bar on the Saturday night thing.

Barely made it back from D'Con '08 with USCM and WH40k Cadian armour in my very big and heavy Pelican case.

I'd be afraid, but all I can do is laugh. The launcher shouldn't be too much harder to make then a potato launcher, though
