The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Howdy,

I already posted in the introduce yourself thread but wanted to specificly say hi to all the members of the UKCM!

although i'm new to this i'd really like to turn up to my first drop in some kind of uniform and have a couple of basic questions:

1) Do you have specific requirements for BDU's? I was just going to pick up either a british desert camo, or polish desert camo BDU, will this be ok or do you require somthing more screen accurate?

2) I was going to pick up patches from ebay but noticed that at some point there were specific UKCM patches available through this forum..are they still available?

3) Anybody know where i would be able to get a name tag done?

Cheers

Simon :D

0) Hi! Welcome to the forums!

1) Nope. If it looks close enough, it's fine by us. If you can't get hold of a set of MAA 3Pat ( Currently the most accurate set you're likely to find 2nd hand ) then the current best pick looks to be Polish desert camo. http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/cgi-b ... 3aHK9#aHK9

2) Yup. Bazfish's spare bedroom is currently stacked to the ceiling with patches. Speak to him :)

3) http://www.camotech.com/Tapes.htm

4) Keep posting around the forums, and you'll soon have access to the Base PX where you can buy and sell directly.

5) Rouge? Or Rogue? The former means "red". Common typo! Just sayin' ;) ( Although even the username "Rogue2" could lead you open to some ribbing within the UK... Depending on how big your boobs are. )

Ahhh crap!.........can't believe i did that! I thought i'd typed Rogue2 very much in the Star Wars sence. Ah well I'm blaming too many night shiftson behalf of the NHS for that one. Guess I'd better see if the admin can edit my user name before i dig a bigger hole

Thank's for the help and the links, i'll send a pm to Bazfish about the patches.

Hi Simon

Steve - Data was doing a possible bulk order of nametapes, might be worth asking if you can get in on it.

Hiya and welcome rogue2.

Im a noob here myself and was going to ask the exact same questions regarding patches. I think the ukcm lion patch looks great but think was sold out? I have pm'd bazfish to see if this is still the case. I am going to get the polish desert camo bdu,s as pointed out to me by the mini marine. Shame there is not a variation allowed as some of the digital camos look great.

Is it ok, if i add in another question ? What boots are best to use? Is it the jungle patrol boots? Anyone have a link? Also what colour belt should be used? I have seen olive, black and a grey. Lol sorry thats multiple questions and sorry if i have hijacked your post. Maybe some answers will be of use to you also

Vietnam jungle boots. Depends on your size there's usually quite a few on ebay. If you cant find any in your size let me know and I will link you to the place I got mine they were $20 for the boots but postage was like $40 so a bit of a killer.

Can't say I wear a belt with mine as I think if I did the armour would mean it would dig in somewhat but I'd probably go for something that matches the belt. If you wanna look more screen accurate the polish bdu's or if you can find a set of the MAA ones they would be best but if you want to go for digi camo I can't see why you can't. As said to you in my email a few of the members on here have done various varients of the camo underneath. Its more if your thinking of joining one of the other costume groups that you need the more screen accurate stuff.

Rogue2,
here's another link to slightly cheaper BDUs (credit goes to naurarwen)
http://www.military1st.co.uk/combat-uniforms-pl-desert/

can someone confirm which is best BDU or SFU or is it more down to preference?

thanks naurarwen for the info on boots, i found the following:

http://www.meanandgreen.com/army/-/Jung ... /2670.html
would these be ok?

for boots you need green jungle boots with a Panama sole. Vasquez and the pilots wore black leather boots, so these would also be acceptable.
For the belt, you need a tan coloured web belt with an open face buckle, like this one - http://www.epicmilitaria.com/product.ph ... ouser-belt

"There's not a variation allowed"...

Mate, that couldn't be further from the truth!

If you like digital camo, go for it!
After all, the patterns on the armour and the BDUs didn't match in the film - I know a few folk have personalised sets of armour and BDUs, from folk with black armour over urban BDUs to custom airbrushed digicam armour itself!
I used to wear OD armour over ACU BDUs before I upgraded, so knock yourself out! We won't stop you :)

Ok, cool. Anyone ever tried applying camo to the pulse rifle? I think it may look good.

Thank's for all the ongoing info and a big shout out to DKMax, it's great to know i'm not the only noob around here!

I put an order in with Baz for some patches, just trying to make up my mind between the Polish BDU's or going for the cheaper option and going with army surplus british desert BDU's.......decisions decisions

P.S thinking of picking up a cap as well until i can splash out on a helmet and some armour

Cheers rogue2. I would probably go with the polish desert bdu incase you want to get further involved with the screen accurate groups in the future otherwise you could end up spending more in the long-term. If you look at the link i posted (thanks again to naurarwen) you can get the complete set - shirt, trousers and cap. The price is probably the best i have seen looking around even though its only a few pounds but hey that could be money saved towards your armour, it all adds up

I may or may not already own a pink camo T-shirt :)

You'll also want some camo boxers, in case you join the UKCM RRF ;)

OMG DK those pink camo pants are awesome. I actually tried to persuade Cooper to paint my armour pink but he wasn't going for it sadly. Maybe if I win the lottery I will invest in another set of Spat armour and get it done pink and purple and stuff. And yes it would be a great decoy.
