The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Anyone heading down to DragonCon that wants some of my prop items, let me know soon. I'll be bringing some goodies with me, but they will be on a first come, first served basis. If anyone specifically wants something, let me know and I'll make sure I save it for you.

This is a great way to save on shipping, and you get to pay in cash, food or booze!

Mods, I hope this is ok in here. It's not really a PX thing, so let me know if you need it moved.

That's fine Spat. Seems more like a "let me know and I'll bring it" as opposed
to "I have 10 of item X for sale." :)

Not to hijack my own thread, but Russ, do you want to do another airsoft Armor test? The last one was with a flat piece of the old plastic I used to use, I'd love one done on a regular, painted current chest plate.

Let me know!

I was talking more about resin kits that I can pop out quick before the con. Vacc'd armor parts take a bit more time. But if you let me know for sure soon, I can get one done for you.

Sure Spat, I can do that. I have a few different AEGs at differing muzzle velocities.
I could even mark the plate into sections and do shots at different ranges as well.

Just as long as I don't shoot the bedroom wall again. The Mrs. was a little unhappy
about that one. ;)

Thanks Spat - I thought vacforming would be far faster than making resin pieces, TBH!

Nope. Resin is a ton faster. Silicone molds are much lighter than the plaster ones. Nothing needs to be pre-heated. No frames to assemble with plastic. No parts to trim out, cut or sand.

Resin is just mix and pour. Then de-mold 20 minutes later. Maybe a little sanding to clean up the part later. But either way, lots easier and faster.

Ah well, cheers anyway!
Collectormania's THIS weekend... Wasn't meaning I want the armour by then, just that I was getting my stuff together when I spotted a new crack.

maybe if it is a small crack, get some Plasticard or a small sheet of aluminum to re-enforce the back as a quick fix for D*C?

When you get your new shoulders, are you gonna warm them up to shape them to your shoukder, so they won't be so stressed when connecting them up with the straps?

That's what I did and mine haven't got any cracks. :)

I'm actually planning to put a metal skeleton inside them this time, just a thin strip of bent steel to attach the plastic to so they're not flexing once they're shaped.

Ok, so here's what it looks like I'll be bringing down:

2 IR Sights
1 Binocs
1 Damaged Binocs
1 Half Gerber
3 Sets of Back brackets
1 Set of Cold Cast Aluminum Back Brackets
1 Belt Tool
1 Damaged Welder

I think that's it, not including the items people specifically ordered in advance.

First come, first served. And I'll bring it all with me for my tour at the AL table on Friday.
