The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Anyone know how to find out if a package has been seized by Parcel Force or if it's just lost?

I sent a VP-70 kit to a guy in the UK and it's listed as "in route to destination" since May 7th.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hey Spat,

I'm not 100% on this but either you or the recipient (or both) should receive a letter from HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs) telling you what happened.

Wildeone I doubt the recipient would be charged with importing a replica firearm as it's legal to import a kit, just not the finished item... although the HCG Pulse Rifle seemed to make it in to the UK so who knows!

Have you been putting the tracking number into the parcel force website or the USPS etc site? Often the local carrier to the destination is more specific - I think parcelforce usually says what stage of customs it's in and whether there is duty to be paid.

I have also been in the situation where there was duty to be paid and I received no letter - I only knew about it from the tracking.

Parcelforce pays customs charges to HMRC on behalf of the recipient and charges a £14? service charge on top for the privilege if I remember correctly.

Here's what I got from the recipient:

"I've just spent an interesting - if ultimately fruitless - couple of days trying to find this through Parcel Force / Customs etc. It hasn't been detained, or attempted to be delivered, nor is it at my local sorting office or depot.
Although none of the 'Post People' would come out and say so as such, the underlying vibe was very much that it was lost and that that just happens sometimes."

And here's all the info I can get on the US end:

Label/Receipt Number: LJ54 1664 175U S
Class: Priority Mail International Parcels
Service(s): International Letter
Status: Processed through Sort Facility

Your item was processed through and left our BETHPAGE, NY 11714 facility on May 07, 2011 at 10:45 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Anyone have links to check it on the UK end?

And how is it that with this many UK Marines on this board, not one of them works at Parcel Force to help us out?

Hmm. Usually the USPS number works in the Post Office/Parcelforce website once it gets into the country.

The USPS tracking seems to suggest that it is still in Bethpage. Which is an uncomfortable position for Beth Page ...

In my experience, USPS tracking shows a load more steps, including one that mentions the departure airport, arrival airport and "foreign customs".

Is anyone ready to publicly admit to working for Parcelforce here ? ... ;)

I don't entirely trust online tracking, as tracking once said a parcel from the US went from Florida to Michigan and back to Florida twice before finally leaving the US two weeks later, yet I actually received the package just eight days after it left the supplier.

Well, it's been three weeks, so I'm going to assume the package is gone and just ship out another kit.
