The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Side-note... As HRC won't take reservations unless you leave some kind of deposit and choose a restrictive menu (etc...), one or some of us on the Saturday will need to go ahead to the HRC and advise of our arrival. Given the size, I would probably estimate an hour ahead of time.

I don't mind volunteering to go, so long as I don't go alone for a boring hour alone.

Cpl Smith, can you please contact the HRC and ask them (to the best of their opinion) how much time they would need ahead for such a large group on that day? They should be able to give you a good estimate.

Do I dare remind people of the Hooters incident of '06? If there's a decision to go to Hooter's, I won't be there. I'll be doing the topless USCM dance with Bruce at the HRC.

Wasn't there in '06, but will accept your choice as something obviously happened back then. :)

Yeah...after waiting to be seated for an hour, it was almost 2 hours before they came to take drink orders. And even then some people never even got the drink they ordered. I believe Tony is STILL waiting on his drink :P

So you guys are going to let one bad experience taint you for an entire international chain restaurant? I've had at least one horrible experience in every restaurant, including the Hard Rock and Hooters. But it doesn't stop me from going back.

You have to assume that everyone working at that Hooters in 2006 is probably in jail now, on their 4th baby daddy, or still in a back alley begging for money for Meth.

I think it's safe to try it again!

For those who think Derek is kidding...he's not!!!

I've headed over to the Hard Rock a few years and got a table and it's not that long of a wait...I just hope we can all sit together. I always find myself in the corner after we're all seated :)

There wasn't much chat (if any) between tables at D*Con dinners I've been to, so as long as I'm at a table with more than one person from the AL, I'll be happy. :)

Yes.

It was ridiculous that year. People sitting at the same table had finished their meals while others were still waiting for their order. Some members did not get to eat anything the entire waste of time we were there.

To add insult to injury- they actually had the nerve to automatically add a 15% gratuity to the final bill... which took us another 30 minutes of dealing with the manager to have removed as the service was atrocious.

And back then our groups for dinner were easily under twenty members.

Besides you can see a lot more skin at the convention itself.

I won't be there so who am I to throw my 2 cents in... As far as I'm concerned with the convention growing exponentially every year, a place like Hooters does not have the ability in staff and sheer seating capacity to deal with a massive influx of patrons and "get them in and out" effectively. But if you want to risk Hooters again, by all means take a chance. They will never receive a dime from me again.

Kevin

I don't care where we go, but I wasn't happy with having to share an area with "straights" at Hard Rock. Our tables were broken up with non group tables in between. I liked the old days when we had a whole room to ourselves so we could mix and mingle.

I'm afraid we're not jsut 20 anymore, so logistics are a bit difficult. The only thing that can seat us all in a room is Max Lagers and it's way too late to book that now.
