I am currently building a fully-functional airsoft-based pulse rifle with different airsoft weapons. I'm not sure if anyone has ever accomplished this, but I figured of getting advice since I want to have all the mechanisms working. Here are the following items I have so far:

Thompson M1A1 "Tommy Gun" 300-FPS Spring Airsoft Gun
99098 Spring SPAS Airsoft Pistol Grip
Alien Giger Aliens Space Marine Rifle 1:1 Prop Replica

I am going to add an electronic counter and muzzle flash soon, but I figured that if I wanna build this right I should get tips from those that did have experience with building their own pulse rifles. Open for suggestions and tips. Thank you! HOOAH!!!

Not sure if you will have access to the thompson spring action once you remove the wood bits.

Cheap SPAS airsoft kits are not 1:1 scale.


Most airsoft builds are Marui or China knock-offs.

Also, not sure you know this, but the 'grenade launcher' on the Pulse Rifle was not a Spas 12 shotgun; it only used the outer cage of the Spas 12 (mounted reversed, front to back), inside the cage was a Remington 870 shotgun;

I removed the wood pieces off of the Thompson. So all I need now is the Remington airsoft. No problem.

As Mr Noble says though, typically airsoft Spas 12's are smaller than 1:1, so I doubt you'll be able to use the cage from your Spas for the PR.

The description before I got the SPAS-12 said that it was full scale. It might have been cheap, but it's still 1:1.

Okay, well take some pics during the build, cos we like to see how these things progress.

Are you referring to the "Alien Giger Aliens Space Marine Rifle 1:1 Prop Replica" seen on ebay, the one in white resin?

If so, two things:

That is an unauthorized recast of The Spatcave prop.

If buying recast items doesnt bother you... that kit is not intended to go with airsoft... it will require an extraordinary ammount of effort to make it so.

I was never aware of that. I figured of getting the recast because I wanted to build the weapon to make it more original.

I should be able to get the Remington soon this week and I got the old SPAS stripped down to nothing. I hope I don't need to saw apart anything for the materials.

Personally, I'd be a little suspicious, but only because of other peoples' past experiences with Airsoft SPAS cages.
For the main they are just about 1:1, but when it comes down to it they often can be a few millimetres too small. Ordinarily a few mil out isn't an issue, but the Remington is a fairly tight fit anyway and it needs the right space around it to function properly.

I hope it does turn out to be full-on scale and I look forward to seeing progress pics!!

I should get take pics of the materials I have for the rifle. I know I have disassembled the Thompson and the SPAS and waiting up for the Remington to arrive in the mail this week.

I tried to do what your doing before i built my hero pulsy, and failed miserably.

you'll struggle with a plastic Spas cage. while its 1:1 in size, the plastic is alot thicker. The metal spas cage is under 1mm thick, and its a tight fit to get the m870 in.
A Marui Spas cage is about 3mm thick, so your going to need to shave a shit load off, so much so you might loose the strength in the cage

Also, if you want it fully functionable, your going to need a gas powered airsoft Remington. the spring powered one is made slightly different, meaning you'd need to cut part of the back off, which contains some of the spring mechanism. Wityhout these parts you wont be able to fire it.

The Remington I picked out is the Spring Tactics Pistol Grip Airsoft Shotgun R870 w/Laser which purchased on eBay. It was one of the cheapest ones I could find that's full scale.

One thing I personally have found is that if you're building a working Pulsey, it's best to go with the best parts you can get - It takes ages, you'll probably have to save forever to afford the bits, but the end result is SO worth it!!

But it's not for everyone, so I hope you succeed in this - Other options for the Pulsey enthusiast are always cool!!

This is everything that I have for the pulse rifle prop, and I have the scrap material in case you all give me hints on how to set it up. The Remington came with a laser and a torch so I attached the torch onto the M4A3 (M1911A) pistol, and the torch emits a blue light which may be useful as an ultraviolet light. I had to strip out the mechanisms of the Remington, but I managed to get all of the pieces intact and ready for assembly.

Does anybody have experience on reassembling an airsoft shotgun?

Are you planning on chopping up the rescast kit to make the shrouds fit over the airsoft parts?

Yes by removing the grip to add onto the Thompson, removing the grenade launcher to fit the Remington-SPAS hybrid onto the rifle, and fitting the Thompson into frame itself. I am even thinking of adding a rail system onto the carrying handle to attach a scope.

Do you have any experience on reassembling an airsoft shotgun? Because I am having trouble putting back together the working parts for the R870.

Is it a maruzen m870 you have? I had a lot of trouble getting mine back together, lots of fiddly parts.

I still have trouble getting it to cycle a round when the m870 is in the SPAS12 cage I think mainly because the cage is so tight on m870 body.

My advice is to get yourself a real metal SPAS12 cage, it will be a million times better than the cheap plastic one
