The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ohhh...this is great...I wish all the scammers were treated like this.

If any of you UK guys dont know about this show, Judge Judy is a popular court/drama TV show thats played here in the states.

Judgement in the amount of $5000 for 2 auctions totalling $500. WOW!!!!

That is awesome.

Everyone who has been scammed on eBay needs to watch this. Very uplifting!!!
I can't believe the seller even showed - it was obvious what was going to happen.

Wow, that video gave me a little more faith in humanity. I've seen plenty of those scam auctions before, like people selling empty PSP boxes, or selling an old Game Boy in an XBox 360 box and making hundreds or thousands on the deal. I don't want to get on a soapbox and rant though, but that stuff really burns me up.

You and me both brother!

Another scam I saw (loooong time ago) was an airsoft AEG SAW that had a buy it now for $100...

But had a fixed shipping price of $1800.00 in the tiniest font possible.

But will they ever know the honourable Judge Joseph Wapner?

Thanks for sharing Derek... that was... something else.... but makes you wonder... did the buyer read the seller's feedback first? I'm happy she got restitution, but if the seller in fact put in a ridiculous clause of "photo only"... she essentially got what she paid for.

Wapner ROCKED!

I'll never forget the time someone left his courtroom in a display of disgust at his ruling- and he ordered the bailiff to bring him back in as he was fining him $250.00 for contempt of court!

Ya don't see old Judy doing that- and I think she should more often.

As for the case- yes she did get what she paid for, however Judy found a loophole in that the description didn't match the item (regarding the weight).

Unfortunately the plaintiff will probably not see that $5000.00, and will have to see the inside of a courtroom much more often- I can't see that scammer coughing up the money right away.

If you think about it the specs with the weight were of the phone in the picture and not the 'actual' item. The seller just wasn't smart enough to come back with that.
But without reading the entire auction its tough to know.

I'm pretty sure in a normal court room (as in not televised) the judge would hold the scammer in contempt for talking over her again and again.

I just enjoyed the scammer getting torn a new one :D

It's my understanding that they are paid to appear on their forum and the judgment is subtracted from their salary to appear.

I'm glad to see she someone put her in her place!

Judge Judy irritates the hell out of me but at least this time there was something I could agree with about her.

The cases on Judge Judy are real, and Sheindlin operates according to the principles of the American legal system. She conducts her court in a manner similar to U.S. appellate courts and many international courts, taking on a more inquisitorial fashion. There are no lawyers present and participants defend themselves, which is standard in a small claims court. The people who appear on her show sign a waiver agreeing that arbitration in her court is final and cannot be pursued elsewhere unless she dismisses the case without prejudice. The award for each judgment is paid by the producers of the show from a fund reserved for each case. The remainder of the fund is split between the parties for a particular case.

I can't help but feel though that it makes a bit of a mockery of the legal system which, let's be honest, isn't in a particularly good state as it is...

But then I could be a little biased as it is my distain for the legal system here in the U.K. that put me off following my interest in law.

Even so, the whole show is just a bit of a joke really.
