The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I wanted to start a REAL discussion here with you BadAsses and Bug Stompers around here about the 'supposed' alcohol crack down in the Marriott(and possibly other hotel). Basically to help separate fact from fiction and to keep people out of trouble this next year. I have heard that the Marriott is going to crack down on people packing to much booze. Now what constitutes as 'to much' has not been defined. So what have you heard? Is there really any truth to what I have heard? What are your rights when dealing with the hotels in Atlanta, GA on that day?

Most hotels have similar policies, either written or unwritten.

I'd imagine that most people will do OK. I've never met an American that can really drink anyway! ;) :)

Sounds to me like a through down challenge for 2011. Sadly I would lose just because I give up drinking about 2 months before the con. Price for being a Spartan I guess. Still look forward to drinking with you all next year. Perhaps I should email/contact the hotel, Marriott or other wise, for more official info on this. Should be interesting to see what kind of response I get back from different official hotels.

The recent 'news' about the crackdown might have been in response to the reports of more drunken idiots spoiling the con for others.

Drink in moderation and I'm sure everyone will be fine.

Sit in the foyer with twenty cans of lager and you may find yourself in trouble.

Edit: What Mantroon said. :D

I would like to hear from the Brits of what their definition of "moderation" means.

I think the Hyatt ran out of those plastic sandbox pails (for their Long Island Iced Teas) after you guys were there all night.

I think one of the funniest things I saw was in 2009- Ashia was walking with me and commented that in all the years she's attended D-Con, she's never witnessed someone being sick from drinking too much.

Not two minutes later she saw someone throwing up in a garbage bin in the Marriott!

People were taking pitcures of him! Between heaves he would turn to the photographers to give them the finger- only to have to immediately stick his head in the bin again.

Personally I've been on both sides of the fence. I gave up drinking in 1998, but I used to drink like a fish before that.

I figure you only have so many drinks in your lifetime; I drank all of mine already.

I however can still be enticed with the proper combination of Amaretto and any cola product.

i carry about a six pack in my bag , and ive never been bothered , the wife carries her drinks in an aluminum fitness type container , i wouldnt mind bying a couple at the con , but when i can go back to my room and get more b4 im served , well then its a no brainer ,i wouldnt contact anyone , you might give them more idea's . every year there is some rumor , like the bars close art midnight , nope . and if they wont let me carry around ill just start earlier , and got out with my buzz on , then go back to the room for some more . or camelback my beer :D

This year Cherie bought the margaritta mix and made her cocktails in the room.....venturing out for the occasional long island ice tea or making me get it.

I'm like most.....have the occasional drink but well below moderation.
I think if anyone gets overly wasted and causes a scene its going to get noticed and eventually the con will need to take action.

When this started at the Hyatt we just smuggled everything inside our luggage. I've never had a prob once we moved to the Marriott but I'll pack the drinks in with our clothes just to be safe. Then you throw a 6 pack and some water in the cooler and you look all innocent and such if they happen to check

Mark got stopped at the Marriott and was asked what he had. At the hyatt, they never asked me to open my cooler. Of course when some one asks me to open things I say no, so ... who knows.

@Kevin, they don't care how much of their booze you drink

Never happened to my at the Hilton, but I never came in with a cooler or anything that fit the profile of a 'Hey there is a SH#t ton of booze in here'. Sounds like we all might have to Armor (read:boot) Leg our booze into the hotels to avoid problems.

Stopped during the con? If anyone asks where you got the drink just reply with a cordial "From your mom!" and all will be well ;)

even though i'm known on some boards for my drinking( i've been watching my intake for the last couple years) in my experence i think if u carry a canteen with your drink(in costume) no one will really notice/care as long as your not stupid about it

i think when the hotel said they were gonna crack down, i'm pretty shure they have in mind those that carry those big keg cups or the guys with shot drinks all over them.

my 2 cents/penece(sp?)
