Greetings, soldiers.
Thanx to a link on FNG's sites & this forum (a nod of gratitude to Tony (tonyandcherie), I learned of the USCM Charter. Having already known about the Star Wars-related costume wearing fan sites for the 501st & the Rebel Legion, I was wondering if there was a similar network for Alien Legacy / USCM fans around the planet. I'm glad I found it.
Still, I'm wondering how many more fans are out there not yet listed on the charter.
Just for kicks, I took a roll call / tally of the Charter:
Alaska = 1
California = 7 (includes 2 soldiers with no pic)
Colorado = 1
Florida = 2
Georgia = 3 (includes 1 soldier with no pic)
Illinois = 2
Kansas = 1
Michigan = 1
New Jersey =1
New York = 1
North Carolina = 1
Oklahoma = 3 (includes soldier Richard Berndt w/ no costume & young soldier Alex LaBoyteaux who looks to be about 11 years old?: "Why don't you put him in charge?!")
Texas = 5 (includes 1 soldier with no pic)
AND
Canada = 1
The Charter is inspiring considering it lists a total of 34 U.S.C.M.s. I think the Colonial Marines that are alone in their states [Alaska, Colorado, etc.] should be especially proud since it's tough to enjoy cosplay by your lonesome. [I know that the 501st here in Hawai'i has AT LEAST 10 members so they never have to "go Trooping" alone].
I'm going to keep my eyes on the Charter from now on, hoping its ranks will grow. I'm hoping to join y'all someday with my own armor & pulse rifle (not to mention other weapon additions to a costume).
In any case, I'm glad for this message board. Learned a lot about my fellow USCM fans & the state of the fan community today. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for everyone as time goes on.
Best wishes,
sidemachine
