Tables just need to be manned during convention hours.
I've set us up for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning

You all know me with table duty (good to go whenever its needed) and as always the more cool stuff we have on display the better!!

We're generally not too picky about people being in costume. I and several others have worked the table out of costume, and occasionally someone will be in a different costume.

Although I am not involved with the AL fan table (as I can't go to DCon this year), I am kind of throwing my two cents in here.

Looking at the DCon fan table rules:

Quote:
In deference to our dealers and exhibitors, who pay for the privilege, no general merchandise sales are permitted at fan tables or band tables. You can sell logo merchandise from your organization and other items made exclusively for and by your club, band or organization.


Now, HORPAT is general merchandise, but you wouldn't be trying to sell/take orders at the table right?

Also, it's not official AL merchandise.

If you are given the green light to put flyers/handouts for your products on there, then you would have to allow Matt Noble, Matsuo, Spatcave, Marsattacks and all the other AL members who produce their own merchandise. If that is allowed, then I think it might start to cause an issue with the DCon organisers who might think the AL is taking liberties with the fan table policy, and could refuse the AL a fan table in following years.

I agree with Kris. Aaron I think the best policy would be to promote the Aliens Legacy generally and to tell folks who might be interested to go there for more info on the things they might want to get hold of.

I don't see anything wrong with giving anyone your contact details / business card in the vicinity of, but not from behind the table if you strike up a conversation with an interested member of the public.

As was posted as long as it has our logo on there (USCM or Aliens Legacy) then you're good as our table is under 'United States Colonial Marines' with the website of 'The Aliens Legacy'.
However I wouldn't lay it out on the table and yell out 'stuff for sale' just because its not plain black and white in the rules and of course we don't hold the copyright to the USCM.

Flyers showing what you have...no problem.
Then if people ask, you can tell; but I wouldn't list 'For Sale' on the flyers.

I'm only taking orders over the internet, so I can keep track of everything.
The flyers are pretty basic. They don't even have a price listed. This wasn't a unique idea. Last year I saw fan tables that had neat stuff... That wasn't for sale, but they provided cards and URLs on where to purchase it. Distributing info isn't against any rules.

So I won't put them on the table. Or hand any out at the table.

And there's no way that I can afford a dealer table. I'm already in the hole for years, and I don't know if this project is ever going to pay for itself. I just get some awesome camo from the deal. :mrgreen:



I already have the "table" files. I've been backing up all of that data for a while. I'll print out what I can on card stock as time allows.

OK, I know something about the DragonCon fanclub table merchanidizing rules first hand, since I got in trouble with them a couple of years ago. The basic rules are this:

1) You can only sell merchandise or memberships or tickets to events with your "Club's" name on it.
2) You can not sell merchandise that is being offered in the dealers room for sale.
3) You can not collect money for raffles or other "games of chances"

So you can promote merchandise and even advertise it, just not sell so long as it doesn't break any of the above rules.

We have been trying to get a dealers table at DragonCon for a couple of years now. This year we are selling our products to another vendor who has tables already and he will pay us after they sell. In the future we could work out some sort of similiar deal or even sell them through or sell site AlchemyArms.com.

The AL fanclub table has a looooootttttaaaa stuff on and around it, so anything you put out will get lost in the visual fray. You might think about sponsoring some handouts that could go with AL promotional stuff as well.
