Post subject:  Dragon*Con USCM/UKCM dinner MENU CHOICES, VOTE ASAP

Mantroon here! Have edited this first post because I don't want to flood the board with multiple threads

We are going to vote for which Restuarant/Menu we are going to have. Voting goes on until MONDAY 23rd JULY, because we are short on time and need to get this booked ASAP
And deposits are going to be needed NEXT WEEK as both restuarants are being hammered by bookings for DCon.

And I think it goes without saying, if you're not going, don't vote :P

Does anyone know what's going on with this?
Last I heard, the room we were considering booking at the Hard Rock was gone - And I for one would like to know we're going somewhere half-decent for it, since last year was really good fun!

Fish - You got something in mind, mate?
I don't care if it's a set menu, so long as it's something a bit more organised than "Pizzas in someone's hotel room"! ;)

We've done Hooters, we've done Max Lagers and we've done Hard Rock.
We're marines.....we can go a little further afield for chow....right?

Worse case grab a 6 pack and come up to our room :)

Wait....wasn't there talk of a meal up in the Marriot where we had the raffle last year?
Pot luck or some such?

Last year's dinner was..... nice. But I prefer us being all in one room, and all in one area, and not spread out all over a restaurant.

So in that way, Max Lager's was the better previous dinner in my mind. Though the food was better at Hard Rock.

There must be a place that has a private room that we can have all to ourselves?!?!?!

If we're going out to eat, I want some "better" food. :)

The Hard Rock was ok, but it was somewhat annoying to hold the award ceremony with other patrons. I prefer a private or more 'secluded' area for us to gather. It might cost more, but its worth it. Otherwise we just have to book ahead and reserve a crap load of tables and request that they are together. Whatever.

As long as we are all together. Did not care for being spread out across the resturant last year. Like it when we can all talk. Sucked some had to wait to get seated while others were already eating.

Thanks!

Greg

The Hard Rock in past years has been fun. Has anyone looked on a map of what is around the area and found a place??

If we're going to a steak house or seafood restaurant I'll have to give it a miss, as I don't eat either - there's nothing really for me to eat on any of the menus I looked at for those restaurants.

Gem, most restaurants will adjust as needed.. (salads w/no meat type thing)

I know Morton's has quite a few of non steak items, but it is as expensive as hell.

Yeah, some of us went to Morton's for dinner last year. Amazing food, but VERY expensive. Not for the Marine on a budget. Durangos seems more reasonable, but for some reason I remember it always being closed at DragonCon.

Here's the menu for Durango with prices. If that helps.

Don't all good restaurants have a vegetarian selection?

Heck, I had a date bail on me for the Marine Corps ball, because she's a vegetarian, and the menu options that we were told before hand was chicken or beef. When I got seated, it turns out they had a vegetarian dish, anyhow!

The big question is where a group as big as us can all get seated. It sucked trying to hear everyone at other tables. Alot of us only get to see each other once a year.

Thanks!

Greg

I posted a link to the menu. If people have special dietary needs, chime in and let us know if there's anything on that menu that appeals to you. If not, we know that restaurant won't do and we can start looking at another place.

There's Jalepeno Charlie's. It seems to have vegetarian options. I'm not sure if they have the room for us so I sent them an email. http://www.jalapenocharlies.com/menu.htm

There's also Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint : http://www.sweetgeorgiasjukejoint.com/contact.html
http://www.sweetgeorgiasjukejoint.com/d ... enu_01.pdf This doesn't seem to be their complete menu though

Also, there's PittyPat's Porch, which I didn't realize had private dining when I posted that I'd be going on fb. http://www.pittypatsrestaurant.com/groupevents.html and there is a vegetarian option ( maybe more?) http://www.pittypatsrestaurant.com/menu.html

Pitty Pat's is way too small for us to do it in. Plus they don't have the set up. They are more family style dining. Fun place, but for what we are looking for, not the best joint.

Sweet Georgia's looks cool.

How does Turkish sound? They have room and can do a few different special menus for us.
