The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Costume was finished at 1 AM - had to drive to Dublin at 3 AM.

Neeeeed.... Sleeeeeep...

But hey, I'm at the airport now, and customs have examined and green-lighted all my luggage, so it's all good!

It's 5 in the morning. The arm's been finished since last evening. We're still working on the vest. We've been cutting steel angle brackets for hours - very slow going with a Dremel - and my friend Tony and I just filmed a short video clip of ourselves at Wal-Mart on a run for more cut-off wheels.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is playing on the tv, and I am losing my mind.

Skycraft salvage opens up again in just shy of 3 hours, at which point we'll be heading over there to pick up some different extension springs (the ones I picked up are too long) and a couple other minor knick-knacks we need to tie up the loose ends. If all goes as planned we'll be getting on the road for Atlanta around noon tomorrow.

Current status:

Arm - needs spring covers screwed down and smaller springs, otherwise ready for paint.

Gun - ready for paint touch-up

Headset - needs eyepiece hollowed out (too heavy for the swivel joint) and then ready for paint touch-up. I even got a curly-cord fixed up!

Vest - needs assembly... mostly just bolting pieces together and attaching straps and pads. The only "complicated" part is fixing up a way to attach the shoulder lamp.

Time for more caffeine.

It's been a hellacious 48 hours.

Gun's completely together and repainted.

Headset's together, just needs a little brush touch-up.

Arm's completely together, and even better, it actually works!

Vest... is almost complete, but the metal we used for the waistplate may not be thick enough to support the combined weight of the gun and the arm without warping. I've rigged up some emergency reinforcement on it, so... finger's crossed on that. That may be a deal-breaker, right there... we'll see.

I've been awake for about 36 hours straight, so I need to crash. See you all at the Con. :)

That SG was SWEET Sean, and it seems you had Lenny Kravitz' son help you make it!

We've actually determined that he's a genetic crossing between Michael Jackson and The Artist Formerly Known as Prince. Tony takes some getting used to, lol, but he's one of the funniest people I know.

And thanks for the compliments on the rig... I'm passing every one I read on to him, Danny, and Lyndon (who most of you probably met at the Con) without whose help I never would have finished in time.

"Entourage"? I don't think I nearly qualify for an "entourage," haha! Although after watching them help me get the vest on so many times (it's kinda formless until you put it on, it's a pain) Joy started calling them my "squires". She said it was like watching squires help a knight into his suit of armor, lmao. There's video of it... we got it down to a science by the end of the weekend, like a NASCAR pit crew.

I have been trying to recruit them, though. :) I don't know if Danny would be able to afford armor and a pulse rifle in time for next year's Con, but we could probably figure something out... and I almost had Tony talked into going as a Synthetic this year.

We can always use more officers, Weyland-Yutani techs, and flak vesters.
