The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Remember this one from page 1?

OK Marines, rise & shine.

We must be on the ready line for the DCon parade for 08H00, so breakfast is at 07H00 at the fan table.

Bring your coffee and I will provide cornbread (eat it boys, it's good for you) and an extra raffle ticket. Yes that's right! 07H00 roll call presence gets you an extra raffle ticket!

So join in, bring some corn bread of your own if you can as I can only bring 12-18 MAX (I'm not made of freakin' cornbread) and see you 1 hour before parade time for a delicious nutricious meal of WY™ brand corn bread.

... and remember: I like Earl Grey with two sweeteners and no milk. Anyone who puts milk in Earl Grey deserves to be... I digress.

The times given allow for a wee bit a of latitude.

Last year was pretty much...

6:30ish am: Get up

7am: Arrive at table (in BDUs only)... Look at all the hung-over, very little sleep or haven't gone to bed yet Marines. Enjoy cornbread and take a few piccies

7:45am: Return to room to gear up

8:15-8:30am: Arrive back at table fully geared up and ready to kick ass

9am: Walk over to Woodruff Park: the Parade staging grounds (about a 15min walk)

9:30-10am: Final parade line up

10am: Parade begins.

Don't forget we want to do group photos before the parade too. So that adds to the schedule. Hey not wanting to hijack... can we have like a "schedule of possible Marine events"? I like schedules.

John- the two big events for us are the parade and Colony Sweep.

I'll post final Parade details when they are emailed to me in the next week or two (it's the same every year so no biggie).

We can start a separate thread for the Colony Sweep to give the new Marines an idea how it works.

Otherwise it's pretty much hanging out at the table and seeing the convention. Other than the dinners you plan on attending the evenings are open to do as you please. :)

Well yeah... just thinking that if we had a written little schedule we could keep them in our pockets... instead of "oh crud, when's that sweep again?". Plus we could keep them at our table to hand out to new recruits we might get at the con itself, so they can see how we do things.

It is Atlanta in Illinois, right?

Hopefully I can get into the melee this time. You would think people would part before us like Moses and the Red Sea. :) Think Cookie Monster will show up again?

"DROP THE F***ING COOKIES! DROP 'EM, NOW!!!"

God, that was hysterical.

I'm certain this will be said a million times beforehand and promptly forgotten during the sweep itself, but we gotta remember to take things "slow and tactical". I think we got a little sped up last year. But of course, this is the wrong thread for that anyway ^_^

There's this place up here in Charlotte, NC (I've been visiting my mother this week) that has an absolutely AMAZING skillet cornbread. Soft on the inside, nice and crusty on the outside, with chunks of sweet corn and jalapenos and served with honey... oh man, this stuff is good. I'm going to see if I can't find a similar recipe and bring a pan or two this year.

No, No, Nooooooooo, you just do not put sweeteners/sugar in Earl Grey. That is so much more unacceptable than milk. :x

Yes I have milk in mine.
