The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

How many people attend D*C with a variation on the name Spat?

Yeah you do bring up a good point. Then again if you were truly dedicated to costuming you would only have costumes from the Alien and/or Predator saga! You would stink at the end of the con... but we would know who you were.

But yeah, we do have other fandom pursuits, other costumes, other groups of online buddies.

I certainly don't have any problems about wearing another ID badge if it helps everyone know who I am.

I think the golden rule is that we should all say hi and introduce ourselves to any Aliens Legacy looking types we don't know - I'm definitely going to be doing that.

Is there a good time & place (the bar I presume) where we can have a meet & greet session?

Also if anyone introduces themselves to you don't forget to tell them who you are in return! I can't count the times I've introduced myself to people only to have to ask "and who are you?". ;)

Harry

I usually just find the AL fan table and introduce myself to everyone. IDs help because vanity says I shouldn't wear my glasses while in costume.

Spat does have a point.

There are several people at D-Con with the name Kevin.

Hope you catch the one that molested you Spat.Image

If you want badges you can have badges! :D

You beat me to it...

I was going to say "if you want to find me just look down".

And I don't want to hear "I thought you'd be taller" once.

Not

Once.

And not a whole bunch of times either.

I'm all for a customized badge, but when I'm in costume, I put my badge on the side of my belt w/ a ziptie, not in the front, obscuring the costume in pics. I've only be asked for the badge twice in two years...

Now, out of costume, sure, it's on the lanyard, around my neck...

Over the years, there has been a "The Real Spat", "Spat 2", "Spat 3", "Spat's Lackey", "Spat Jr.", and a "Spat's Bitch" on DragonCon Badges.

So there are plenty of variations of my name out there on badges.

I am not certain my opinion will matters as I am not going to D*Con this year, but I'd like to chime in the same direction as Spat, but saying the opposite as him.

It was mentionned that someone could have various nicknames/callsigns/identifications, but nobody tought of the fact that if all and every of those identifications would call for a supplemental card it would end up being very very confusing.

For instance, if I'd go in one costume and still want people from other of my organisations to recognize me by adding a card for all groups that I am part of that are present in D*Con, I'd be having an AL card, an AI card, a TJA card, a RL card, a GAR card, a Mercs card, a GBFans card and that is without the lesser organisation that still might want to recognize me somehow.

From my point of view, the best would be to have some addition to the lanyard or card (sticker maybe?) without being an additionnal card, as people who happen to not wear the same costume for the whole con (you know, those who smell OK at the end?) still have a way of being recognised no matter what costume they wear.

I know it had been complex to make Mike recognize me the first time this week-end at polaris when I wasn't in AL gear, so I understand why Spat requests something, but I honestly think an additionnal card is not the best way out.

I like the sticker idea.

How about a pin on a lanyard?
How about a Mike Rush pin on a lanyard, dare I say?

Not that everyone has one, but I they would be recognizable.

Not that this matters to you boys....but I have hard enough time with one badge at DC let alone two.

Typically I barely have enough clothing on for the one badge to hang on to. ;)

I'm kidding!!!! ;)

Sorry... My mind was elsewhere..:)

I like the idea of an exclusive Legacy Pin, You could even have a sticker version for appplying to con passes/armour.

I've been wanting to get some of those USCM Delta lapel pins anyway - this would be a great excuse for another run of them! :D
