I had a great (and ultimately relaxing) time at Farpoint.
Huge thanks to Spat and Anthony for not only putting me up before/after the con and driving me there, but also for giving me a tour of Manhattan yesterday. It was great. Also, great to meet up with Drew again; very funny man! Oh, and thanks to Belle for acting as a hot-water bottle!
More thanks to all the MD crew for being so welcoming and tolerating the excesses of Abe.
As you can tell by the video, Abe had a whale of a time. Also, when I was out of costume on the Sunday I was amazed by how people recognised me, talked to me and complemented me on my "Abeness".
DragonCon and Farpoint (and Cons in the US generally IMO) are totally different to shows in the UK; it's a social thing more than anything-an opportunity to make like-minded friends from like-minded strangers. It felt like I talked to the majority of the people there, and got to know so many people. This is, of course, helped by the fact the US shows are held in convention hotels and go on all night, but also Americans are so open to meeting strangers. It's super rare to properly get to know someone (or even talk to someone) who you don't know at a UK show ...
I did miss my UKCM buddies though
