The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Just put it all on, carry the rifle and walk through security. Who in their right mind would stop a Colonial Marine with a Pulse Rifle!?!!?

But seriously, rule #1 is NEVER PUT ANY OF IT IN YOUR CARRY ON BAGS.

The armor in a suitcase that is checked in is perfectly legal and no one can bat an eye.

Technically, the Pulse Rifle is also legal to transport to most states as long as it's in your checked in luggage. But a lot of people stick a note on top of the rifle stating that it is a non functioning movie prop, etc. Some even go so far as to ask for a bag check when checking in the luggage so that Security can open the bag and see what it is, with you standing there, so they can approve it and make sure there are no complications or headaches down the road.

Anyone else have advice?

Everyone is different. I had a seperate gun case for my weaponry
with a notice that said something to the efffect of "These are
expensive non functioning movie prop replicas."

Of course, that didn't stop the TSA morons from stealing/losing my
frakking TSA locks. :( On the return trip home, I had them check
the case and put TSA tape on it to keep it closed. Didn't want my
$1K pulse rifle bouncing on the conveyor from the airplane.

MY armor was modded so the chest and back plates seperate and
can be laid inside one another. it was all (minus helmet) put in my
suitcase. Tight squeeze. :)

Most travel with my armour and equipment is by car. For Dcon 08 I shipped the weapons down UPS to a member there, and for trip home I shipped everything back to myself.

This was the reason we drove down the last two years. Made it so much easy and more reassuring to just pack everything ourselves in the car and know that it will get there and in one piece.

Last year I was with the boyfriend who was about to spend a year in Korea, so I was real light on costumes/armor. I'm hoping this year I can bring my TS armor, at least, and that's a HUGE bin.

I'd possibly include some photos from Aliens showing key/recognisable scenes including a Pulse Rifle. These two spring to mind:

I plan on coming to dragoncon with two costumes. The first is all soft costume and will fit in a suitcase np. The second is just a bit of armor that should fit in the old suitcase. I plan on purchaseing one of those bowling ball bags, putting my bucket into it, and bringing it as a carry on. Is it still possible to do that, the carry on anyway? If not I will have to make it to where my bucket disassembles, and stuff it into the old suitcase.....
