The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Terrific!

Where do I get on the 285? :?

Man I hate having to navigate.

I don't own one of those new fangled GPesses technologies... I'm just a caveman. Your modern ways confuse and frighten me.

This construction shouldn't bother you guys...they are mostly working nights and will probably suspend working due to the holiday weekend....and don't bother with 285...you'll just have to cut right back through on 20...which is where the construction is taking place. They are repaving 75 at 20..and I believe on NB lanes.

Thanks Derek, however if you can confirm all this with the powers that be, it would be a great help.

This just in...

Major Labor Day Weekend Lane Closures on Downtown Connector
Significant delays likely - travelers urged to use MARTA or I-285

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a major Interstate reconstruction project where I-85 south meets I-75 south on Labor Day weekend. This construction will cause heavy delays in Midtown and Downtown Atlanta. Motorists traveling into the city for events are strongly urged to use MARTA to avoid this construction zone. Drivers traveling to areas outside Atlanta should use I-285.

When: Beginning at 9 p.m., Friday, August 29 and ending at 5 a.m., Tuesday, September 2

What: Crews will tear out and rebuild sections of I-85 and I-75/I-85 to improve safety, sight distance, and shift roadway alignment into the final configuration for access onto the new 10th Street exit ramp. The new alignment will also provide a staging area to remove the east side of the 14th Street Bridge and rebuild the center bridge supports.

I-85 southbound will be reduced to two lanes near its merge with I-75, and
I-75 southbound will be reduced to one lane at this merge.
The Georgia DOT weighed the decision to work Labor Day weekend very carefully. The complexity and amount of work to be completed would require up to six weekends of major lane closures to accomplish what could otherwise be finished over a three-day weekend. In the event of inclement weather on Labor Day weekend, the lane reductions will take place the following six weekends.

Motorists should allow additional travel time and expect significant delays. To avoid these delays, use MARTA or bypass the Connector by using I-285 if possible. Dial 511 from your cellular phone for traffic updates.

We'll miss this, but maybe not normal delays as we'll be arriving Thursday.

Everyone else.......be careful!!

what alternate route should a northbound marine who normally uses I-75 take?

I think we'll be fine Jay from what I'm reading. It all seems to be North of Atlanta affecting the southbound folks coming in after Friday. Which doesn't seem to be anyone right?
