The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

You have helped me out on the guns now I am wondering about pointy objects. One of my costumes will be Snake Eyes. I have the "official" sword. This thing rocks! It is all metal including the handle. The blade is not sharp and I got it for 120.00. Now I do not plan on bringing it but want to make a replica out of wood or plastic. What are the rules? I have seen pics with Predator spears, swords, and wrist blades. I have also seen quite a few Wolverines with extended claws. I figure it is the same as the guns. As long as I am not swinging it around it should be ok. The only reason I would bring the real thing is to have Ray Park sign off on it. I cannot believe he is a year older than me. I thought he was younger.

I think live steel has to be bound into the sheath if I'm not mistaken. And let me add Yo Joe!

If you make a wood or plastic one, you'll be fine as long as you don't actually hit anyone with it. You can bring the metal one, provided you ziptie it into the sheath so it can't be drawn.

That is the rub. The sword did not come with a sheath. Does it have to be a full sheath? I would hate to carry it around in a box. I could wrap it in a cloth or come up with a make shift one that covers the tip but open to see the profile which really makes the costume.

The only reason Cobra had Storm Shadow is because he was brain washed. That and Zartan killed the hard master framing him.

Thanks!

Know anyone who could make a sheath for you? Or could you do it yourself? I believe it needs to be a full sheath. We have a few Snake Eyes on our Joe costuming board @ gijoecostumers.com. I'll ask and see how they've managed.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it has to be a full sheath- ashame it didn't come with one.

Even the wooden stuff gets the evil eye from security if the tip is pointy enough. But again it all depends on how everyone is acting at the convention- if everyone is acting like idiots, security will be tight. And if everyone is behaving nicely- security will be cool.

The guys on the Joe boards seemed to run into the same prob with no real solution. Most just use a standard non sharpened and zip tied "ninja sword" in whatever sheath said sword came with. I've not seen anyone carry the replica as of yet.

Here's the deal. I've worked Ren Faires for years and years. Live Steel MUST be peace-tied, no if's and's or but's. Period.

You have an awesome sword, but it ain't going to be allowed, not in a sheath. If memory serves me correctly of that blade, it has Snake-Eye's ninja tattoos etched onto the blade itself? To show that off, you could cut a "window" into the sheath, to display that.

Sorry to be negative, but that's the way Live Steel is treated.
