OK, Drop Zone: FenCon mission completed...

Not a very big convention even by there normal turn out (usually about 700-1000 folks) I'm guessing they might have hit 400-500 hundred people, but I didn't see them. I got there on Saturday with my wife and 3 year old son. I got into my USCM Class C's and handed out about a dozen membership form/fliers and put a bunch on the free handout table for most of the day. The whole convention was pretty dead and empty, even the dealers' room felt like the customers were "zombies" milling about aimlessly searching for brains. The variety of stuff in the dealers room was not to impressive and only the Austin Brown Coats were selling any sort of sci-fi related props. Eventhough we live only an hour away, we got a hotel room for the evening, but I still had to drive home to drop off my son at a slumber party and then drive back to the convention. I changed out to BSG Dress Grays for the evening and we went search for the room parties. There were about a dozen, mostly hosted by other conventions that were trying to get you to prepay for thier conventions. So we went back to our room and ordered room service and drank our own booze.

Sunday I had to get up and drive home before 8:30 AM to pick up my son from the slumber party and drive back to the convention. I wore my Nostromo costume for the day which because it was so slow, we had lunch, cruised the dealers room, packed up and left by 2:30 PM.

It was nice to see and talk to some of our friends at the convention, but other then the stay at the hotel, and room service, it wasn't much of a convention. Now I remembered why I didn't get a dealers table for the last 2-3 years.

Oh well, Fan Days is coming up in a couple of weeks where I do have a dealers table and friends from SFH, TCF, 501st, Browncoats, and AL will be there! I'm really looking forward to the convention.
