I shave before I troop, but I shave most of the time anyway.
With that being said, my grandfather who was a U.S. Marine who fought in the Pacific during WW2 used to tell me war movies were "bullshit" because the actors were always clean shaven (I wish I could remember the movie we were watching). If nothing else, I'm glad this thread reminded me of his stories. Maybe next time I'll skip shaving for a few days before I troop as an homage to grandpa Frank.

Soul patch? Forgot about that! I understand Mike's hardcore attitude as he's harder core than thou.

If I really discriminated against hairies, I never would've bonded with Scott aka Falken 108 who is now a Brother Mason. I would prefer to see shaved faces, but I realize this isn't a real military outfit, so I know it's not going to happen.

But what I will say is, there are old timers like Mike and some extent me who like to see sci-fi military treated right, which includes dress and appearance.

When did we become the 501st ?

I will shave my arms and legs before the Con, and probably on Sat morn too...but since I HAVE to be clean shaven at work all the time, I'm sitting the face shaving stuff out...sorry. I rather enjoy my stubble when I get a chance to have it.

My thoughts exactly. I am active military and have to shave daily. When I go on leave, I shave on my terms. That said, I'll probably be pretty clean shaven, depending on the time of day.

Me, I'll have my face clean shaven, just like I had it when i was in that shithole called Somalia for 6 months....shaving every day. Even at -30 C in Canada's frigid winter on exercise, we shaved daily. If you think we are going the way of 501, that's your interpretation & your choice to stay or go. Mike's idea of USCM is shaving my mug daily, even hung over or still drunk. See you in 2 days, Marines!

While I will be shaving, as I always do, not shaving isn't really EU at all. Applying modern military standards to the film however, is.
